My New Wave Concert Venture Tonight

I’m very excited because I will be getting in my New Wave fix tonight by attending a concert at The Dreamcatcher Lounge in Viejas Casino.  My best friend Janice and I will be watching The Human League with Men Without Hats, both of whom I have not had the privilege of seeing back in the 80’s.  The Human League actually have a new album out called Credo, so I’m glad to know that they are not only touring, but still recording as well.

If you are unfamiliar with the names of these groups, below are lists of hits for each of them.  Once you see the songs, I’m sure your memory banks will flood with sounds of their catchy tunes.  I’ll post pictures and a review next week!

The Human League:

Don’t You Want Me

Love Action

(Keep Feeling) Fascination

Mirror Man

  1. Pop Goes the World was my FAVORITE song in 5th grade. I hadn’t heard it for years when I received an 80s compilation cd for Christmas back in, like, 1998 or something. It was one of the best presents ever! Now, with iTunes and digital downloads, favorite old music is always at your fingertips. This is great, of course, but it also makes hearing the songs a little less special because they’re so accessible. You know?

Of course, I love ‘Human’ too. I remember the wierd video very well.

    Have fun!!

    1. Thanks Kimi! I have been listening to nothing but The Human League’s “Best Of” album for the past 2 days, but I don’t have their new album yet. I’ll have to admit that I know nothing about Men Without Hats, except for the 2 songs listed, but it will be good to see them live, too.

But I know what you mean about accessibility. I love the hunt, and prior to MP3’s, I would hunt old record stores to get what I want. But when I do come across a rarity, I definitely feel like I’m back on the hunt again!

      xoxo
