Hot Sticky Sweet

When I’m off work and on casual Fridays, a concert t-shirt, jeans and a comfy pair of shoes are my uniform, especially when they’re as striking as these fantastic pair of red moccasins (to match my nail polish, of course).  I wore this outfit on the last day in our old office as we packed up to move to our new building (just this past Monday).  The weather right now in San Diego has been quite warm, but the mornings and evenings still remind us all that it’s not quite spring yet.  In those times, a light jacket and snuggly beanie will do.  I love this Def Leppard long-sleeved t-shirt because it’s great for days like this, but then I could also throw it over a tank top and shorts when it’s nice and sunny all day long.  I actually saw Def Leppard back in 2002 at a Jingle Ball, not back in the 80’s.  Back then as a die-hard Depeche Mode fan, I dare not say that I even remotely liked “Pour Some Sugar on Me”, let alone admit that I actually bought the single (yup, that’s my 7 inch below).  I’m quite at ease with my musical self that I can readily admit now I really have always been a fan.  So much so that I’ve included the video below for your enjoyment.

  1. Another super cool outfit – I really love your style. I usually think that Ed Hardy is a bit over the top, but you just rock this jacket!
And I’ll definitely have a closer look at that nail polish which, by the way, is a perfect match for the wonderful shoes.
And thank you for mentioning the nail polish, btw. Many style bloggers “forget” this, and as a polishaholic I often think “Yeah, great outfit. But what about your nail polish?!” 😉
Funny about the music we listened to, but won’t (or wouldn’t) admit being fond of. I had music like that, too! However, I did buy the Def Leppard record way back, mostly to listen to.. “Pour some sugar on Me”! 🙂

    1. Thanks Conni! I should have taken a picture of the back, because it does have this crazy tattoo style embroidery on it, but it’s actually really cool. The only other Ed Hardy thing I own is a scarf.

I actually have a whole post about my most recent nail polish discoveries coming up next week!

      xoxo

      1. Oh, I really understand your main reason for buying the jacket! 😉 And I’m so looking forward to reading your post about nail polish! 🙂

  2. Hi Cy -Great outfit!

I LOVE Def Leppard, up to their 3rd Album though (which rules out “Pour Some Sugar on Me” which was from “Hysteria”)), “Pyromania”, which was released in 1983. So I guess you could say “early” Def Lep for me. I still have my sleeveless Union Jack shirt from 1983 (it still fits)! 🙂

If you want to hear a totally different (but way cool) rendition of “Pour Some Sugar on Me”, go on youtube for Emm Gryner (a Filipina Canadian songwriter/singer). It’s a piano version. It’s so sexy. It’s from her “Girl Versions” album. She even got the band’s seal of approval.

    1. Thanks CC! My all time favorite song is “Photograph”, which is from Pyromania, right? Can’t believe you have a Union Jack shirt! You should sport it because now it’s “vintage”, lol 🙂

I saw Emm Gryner in concert! She opened for Matt Nathanson a few years ago, and I saw them at that little recreation center at that one park in Mira Mesa. I have one of her CD’s, but I would love to her her verion of “Pour Some Sugar on Me”!

      xoxo

  3. Great outfit! Loved the shoes and the jacket. That has to be the nicest Ed Hardy item I’ve ever seen. I still remember back when my brother would wear nothing but the obnoxious Ed Hardy shirts to high school, it was hilarious.

    1. Thanks Laura! I’ll add a picture of the back because it’s very vintage looking. I got it at one of the first sample sales I ever attended in San Diego. I’ve worn it to that festival I told you about in England, so it’s a very well travelled jacket! It truly is hard to find Ed Hardy stuff that doesn’t look so…commercial, is that the word? lol

And the shoes are SO comfy and the color is striking.

      xoxo
