#BlogItForward With Wayfair for Habitat For Humanity

#blogitforward

Holidays are a wonderful time to not only spend with family, but also to remember to be kind to others and give back to your community.  Giving back can take on many forms, big or small, and Wayfair, one of the largest online destinations for the home, is challenging bloggers to #BlogItForward and inspire each other to spread the word to do something positive this holiday season.  For every blogger that places the #BlogItFoward badge on their blog, Wayfair will donate $50 to Habitat For Humanity, helping to build homes for families in need.

Not only am I participating in Wayfair’s #BlogItForward for Habitat For Humanity, but I’ll also be participating in two other campaigns.  Check them out below, and I’d like to inspire my fellow bloggers and the San Diego Style Bloggers network to do the same!

TaSanni Kickstarter Campaign:

Help support TaSanni to create jobs that empower artisans in Africa

As I posted recently, TaSanni was one of the top three designers at Fashion Week San Diego 2015 (original post here).  With the success of their participation in FWSD 2015, there is much interest in their 2016 Spring Collection (I’m wearing one of their blouses in the picture above).

As you know, our mission is to contribute to the African economy through fashion, we believe that Africa can become a fashion manufacturing hub and this is just the beginning.
In order to employ more tailors we need to raise more capital. – TaSanni

I will be donating to TaSanni’s Kickstarter campaign.  If you would like to do the same, you would not only help these talented emerging designers, but you will also help develop the communities of these African tailors and small businesses TaSanni will be working with.

Voodoo Vixen Shop For A Cause 2016

Voodoo Vixen Campaign 2016

I love wearing clothing by Voodoo Vixen, a UK based vintage inspired label, which “infuses retro, pin-up and rockabilly styles with classic silhouettes to flatter the modern woman” (all the dresses I’m wearing in the collage above are from Voodoo Vixen).  They will be having a sample sale in the Hollywood area, where 50% of their sales will benefit Pin-Ups For Vets.  I’ll be there to help support their cause, and to shop because you can save up to 70% of their retail prices!

Come to Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR Wrap Party This Weekend at Fashion Valley!

Kiehls LifeRideKiehl’s is having a wonderful event tomorrow to support the final stretch of LifeRide for amfAR, which is their philanthropic collaboration to ride across the US to raise funds and awareness for AIDS research.  This two-week motorcycle ride culminates right here in San Diego at the Kiehl’s location in Fashion Valley from 12pm-1pm.  There will be bites and sips courtesy of Soda & Swine and Juice Saves, and you can also meet all the riders!

I’ve always known about Kiehl’s and their wonderful products, but got a chance to know Kiehl’s a little better recently by trying some of their more popular ones.  In reading up on their history, I had no idea they started out as a pharmacy back in 1851!  That alone lets me know they’re experts in understanding what’s best for my skin and how to take care of it.  My immediate favorites were the Ultra Facial Cream and Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado.  Both are rich and creamy, so you don’t need much to get what you need out of the product, and my skin just drank it up!  My next favorite was their Lip Balm #1.  I have incredibly dry lips that are constantly peeling, especially in summer weather.  My lips stayed soft and didn’t peel at all the entire day!

My next on the list to try will be the Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate and the Super Fluid UV Defense Sunscreen.  I’ll definitely be using the sunscreen at this weekend’s event, as we know it’s going to be a hot one here in San Diego.  It’s +50 SPF, so I know I’m going to get the protection I want!

I’m excited for Kiehl’s event with amfAR tomorrow!  Be sure to follow along on my Instagram (@any2ndnow) for all the fun, and you can join the conversation by using #LifeRide6.  Additionally, Paulina of Lil Bits of Chic and founder of San Diego Style Bloggers will also be on site to cover the celebratory festivities, so please come on by.  Cheers!

Give Back in Style: Fashion in the Valley on September 19, 2013

Fashion in the valley collage

New York Fashion Week kicked off yesterday, launching a frenzy of fashion at every turn.  If you are a fashion enthusiast, you know the Spring 2014 collections will be showcased during this time, but I’m ready to beat this heat and start thinking about fall!

Fashion Valley will be hosting a wonderful fall fashion event on September 19, 2013 called “Fashion in the Valley”, which will be from 6pm-8pm at the Macy’s Center Court.  Enjoy some bubbly while watching fall trends from stores like Ted Baker London, Tous, The Limited, Tommy Hilfiger, Banana Republic, Stuart Weitzman, White House | Black Market and many others.  Fashion Valley is also partnering with Hard Rock Hotel San Diego and Father Joe’s Villages to give back through the COMPASSION ROCKS Clothing Drive, which benefits the homeless residents of Father Joe’s Villages. This campaign kicks off on Thursday, September 12, 2013 and runs through Thursday, September 26, 2013.  Donation barrels will be available at Fashion Valley and will be located at Old Navy and at the Guest Services booth throughout the duration of the clothing drive.

If you are one of the first 50 attendees who donate new or gently used clothing for the COMPASSION ROCKS Clothing Drive on the night of September 19th, you can grab a front row seat at the fashion show (one per donor)!  Additionally, the first 200 attendees will be treated to swag bags filled with discounts, coupons and other Fashion Valley goodies.

I’ll be there, and I hope to see you there as well as Fashion Valley begins their season of giving back…in style!
