I’m always reluctant to wear shorts because I don’t know where the cut off is between too short, and not short enough. In my forties, I’ve become more self-conscious and aware of this fact, despite how much I know I believe it shouldn’t matter. I know I wore cut-offs at the Rewind Festival last year (post here), but can I wear those anywhere else other than maybe the beach? I think I have finally found the a line of shorts that are just perfect for me. These shorts are by Joe Fresh at JCPenney, and they hit me at just the right place on my thigh where I feel comfortable (not to mention they are adorable). They have a whole line of shorts, which will be perfect for those hot summer days that I know are coming so very soon here in San Diego.
The title of this post is simply because my son is playing the game on both my Acer Iconia and my iPhone, and I was running out of titles for posts using the word “bird”. This dress is so flowy & cute, but is so low-cut that I had to wear a little bandeau underneath. Besides, I think the attention should be on the cut and print of the dress and these fabulous shoes, rather than my need for modesty, don’t you?
I’m very glad that I treated my new suede boots last week because we received an unexpected shower today. You can see water the beading on the boots, which is a good thing (the rain just shook off of them when I got inside). We only stayed out in the rain long enough to capture a few pictures of my military/utilitarian outfit today, softened with a pretty umbrella, vintage looking cameo and sparkly scarf. If the rain persists this week, I may have to set aside my boots for when the weather is more permitting.
Outfit: Coach umbrella; Old Navy jacket; H&M top; Topshop jodhpur pants; ASOS leopard print scarf; Forever 21 cameo brooch and ring; Steve Madden boots (seen here)
These are the boots that I am determined to get for fall. There are a couple more that I’ve seen in my latest Lucky and Vogue magazines (The September Issue!) that are not online yet, so I’ll post a “Boot Camp Part Deux” at a later time. They all have very clean lines with utilitarian/military details, which is on point for many of the styles that will be out this coming season. My favorite bits: The fold over the wedged heel of the Vince Camuto boots; the riveted clog detailing of the Steve Madden Luxe boots; and the subtle detail and clean lines of the Coach booties.
Don’t you just love the fall?
1. Alician Black – Vince Camuto; 2. Yea Clog Boots – Steve Madden Luxe (DSW); 3. Astrid Bootie (in suede) – Coach
I think I’ll try the Coach Factory Outlet store at the Carlsbad Premium Outlet this time around to use the 20% off coupon that I received today in my inbox. Then I’ll make a pit stop at the Juicy Couture outlet store and the Barneys New York outlet, too.
The picture on the right should take you to a coupon you can print. If you can’t click on the picture, click on this link to get your coupon: 20% off Coach Coupon until Aug 8
