Weekend in Pictures: The SoCal Etsy Guild Market

This weekend was quite the busy one!  My mother-in-law was in town for a conference on Friday, so she requested that we hang out on Saturday, going anywhere and everywhere throughout San Diego.  We started our day off at The Headquarters near Seaport Village and browsed around the SoCal Etsy Guild Market.  Although the weather here in San Diego during the weekend was quite temperamental, going between hot, cold and rainy, we stuck it out to take a look around and even listened a bit to the live band.

The Headquarters at Seaport District invites you to a unique San Diego event. SoCal Etsy Guild Market will feature Southern California’s premier handmade artisan vendors in the beautiful setting of our intimate, outdoor courtyard. The market will include live art & music and free children’s activities. All products featured at the market will be handmade, vintage, artisanal food or art. This collection of merchants is one you won’t want to miss. Support local artists and buy handmade at the SoCal Etsy Guild Market, Saturday April, 26th from 10 am – 5 pm.

Afterwards, we headed up to The Forum at Carlsbad (again); then had a snack at Harbor Fish Café (my mother-in-law’s favorite little fish shack); bought some confections at The Chocolate Bar; shopped a little at The Beat Clothing; dropped off our sleepy little boy at home with Nana before heading back to Fashion Valley Mall for some final shopping.  Whew!  That was quite the whirlwind of taking in as much of San Diego as we could in just one day!  She then brought our little one up to Las Vegas for the week while my hubby and I do some spring cleaning, which includes setting up our vinyl listening area (pictures to come).  Although we were all over San Diego, I took most of my pictures at the SoCal Etsy Guild Market, featuring a couple of booths where I made some lovely purchases.  Hope you had a great weekend!

SoCal Etsy Guild Collge

Immediately smitten by the donut, I purchased it along with some equally adorable macarons (all of which are going to be on display on my desk at work)!

My final purchase of the day was from Cirello Gallery, featuring laser cut stainless steel jewelry.

I purchased the hand cut gold plated skull pendant. Right up my alley!

(Black) Friday, I’m in Love

I have been waiting to wear this lovely sweater coat I purchased on Etsy earlier this year, and Black Friday was the perfect day to wear it since the weather was sunny but very brisk.  These pictures were taken right after our excursion, and my sole acquisition of the day was that beautiful leather and suede purse from Topshop.  Being married to someone born and raised in Las Vegas allows me to see so many things outside of The Strip.  This is Charlie Frias Park (located on Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard), which is en route to The Strip, as is seen in the background of the pictures below.  Although we did visit The Strip to go Black Friday shopping at Fashion Show Mall, and to visit my cousin for her husband’s birthday, we primarily stay away from The Strip.  Las Vegas is quite lovely as a city, and I want my pictures on our frequent trips there to showcase what else Sin City has to offer.  My next outfit post and photos of Las Vegas will feature places even my husband never experienced, and it was fun for the entire family!

Mint Condition

Mint Condition
If you follow me on Pinterest, you’ll see that I’m very taken by the color mint. It’s so fresh and perfect for spring. I was inspired by the very cute shoes from ModCloth and Miista, then took to Polyvore to create a casual set and a dressy set. I envision wearing either style with a pair of black skinny jeans so that the mint just pops (click the picture above, or the links below for all the buying information).  I know it will seem like an unusal musical departure, but in the 90’s, I was very much into Hip Hop and R&B. I thought it was appropriate, given the title of this post, to include “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)” by Mint Condition (click the picture below for the video). Enjoy!

Blog Love & Support: Clutched & Covered

Now that I have been blogging for two years, I’ve come to know several bloggers, some who appear in my blog roll.  A few of these bloggers have forged businesses, and I try to support them when I can.  One of my favorite bloggers, Rocquelle of Consider Me Lovely, has a wonderful Etsy shop called Clutched & Covered.  I love the idea of refreshing the clutch purses you have in your closet and extending their versatility with covers!  I decided to cover my American Apparel clutch because it was the most plain (here is an example of how it looks from a previous outfit posts here and here).  Rocquelle has so many cute styles in her Etsy shop, but I finally settled on purchasing the leopard print.  Not only is it beautifully made and fit my American Apparel clutch perfectly, but I discovered that it also fit a new clutch that I just got from The Limited!  I love how the orange of the envelope flap just pops against the leopard print.  I also adore the beautiful thank you note from Rocquelle (and yes my dear, I will be rocking this cover at the next concert I attend!).  I actually styled this cover with an outfit that I wore to a party, and I will post that outfit soon.  If you want to revamp the clutches in your closet and give them some new life, why not pay Clutched & Covered a visit!
