Maybe the Chill That Autumn Brings: Styling With Berkshire Legwear

Fall is here, and I couldn’t be happier!  Fall means layers, coats, and legwear.  I’m definitely one who loves to wear tights, but I have always stuck with darker hues like blacks or navy blues.  These Easy On tights in Candlelight by Berkshire are just the perfect opaque, without that little-girl feel of white tights.  They also had a slight shimmer to them, which gave my colorful tunic a bit of daytime glam.  I wore this outfit to Media Day at Phoenix Fashion Week on Wednesday, and I’ll be posting all about my adventures next week!

I’m excited try Berkshire’s other Fall/Winter products, which include textured tights and, yes, anklets!

Outfit:  Chevron shirt dress/tunic from Forever 21; Navy blue jacket by Twelve by Twelve (a line previously carried by Forever 21, no longer available); Marley Mary Jane shoes in purple by Christian Siriano for Payless Shoes; Zeelol glasses; Furla Candybag; The Easy On Shine On tights in Candlelight c/o Berkshire

Step Into Comfort: Kushyfoot Review

IMG_3155 (2) (1280x1280)

I have been on the hunt for the perfect foot covers (AKA  shoe liners, peds, footies, “not socks”, etc) for some time now.  My issue with them is that they never stay put, or when they do, they show!  When I was approached to review Kushyfoot products, I hoped for the best and that my search for the perfect little foot cover finally would end.  I can say without a doubt, my search is over!

KushyFoot Collage 1As you can see, Kushyfoot’s Ultra Low Cut foot covers offer just enough coverage for your toes, but also have a “non slip” backing, ensuring that the foot cover stays put both ways.  As for the “cushy” part, there is padding right at the ball of the foot, providing all day comfort.  I wore these with sneakers and flats to work all day for two days, and I didn’t have to adjust them.  The price point is also affordable, and retails for approximately $3.99 a pair ($23.97 for 6 pairs).  This is well worth it for all of the cute flats coming out for fall!

Kushyfoot not only offers foot covers, but a variety of hosiery, including knee highs, tights, socks, and their Flats to Go® (pictured below).  They are not intended for long distance use, but definitely would be great for the end of one of those long evenings out, where you just want a bit of relief from your heels.  They fold and fit right into its little convenient purse pack to grab and go!

If you like what you see, you can find Kushyfoot products on their official site, and please also follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.  Thanks again Kushyfoot for these wonderful products, and for ending my search for the perfect foot cover!

Sheer Luxury With a Purpose: Frangi Pangi Hosiery

DSC00382 (2) (860x1280)

When I first started to wear dresses, I always wore sheer pantyhose because my mom used to wear them all the time.  This led to my love of tights, and I’ve really only worn either tights or have gone bare-legged when wearing something for day or if the outfit didn’t call for it.  Recently, I’ve thought about wearing pantyhose again because I find that I need to wear something with more support.  There are really only two things that hold me back from donning sheer pantyhose: color and wear.  I feel like I can’t quite find the right color for my skin tone, and I have this very bad habit of ruining a new pair of pantyhose within the first wearing by snagging them on something, creating a huge run.

I have come to realize that sometimes you have to spend a little to get the quality you want, so I did move to the higher denier tights to get that opaqueness that I wanted, which meant moving to a higher price point.  Of course, the same applies to sheer pantyhose because you literally get what you pay for: if you pay $2 for a pair, then it is inevitable that they will most likely run after the first wear because of the lower denier.  So after I was contacted by Frangi Pangi to try out a couple of pairs of their pantyhose, I wasn’t sure what to expect, being that it’s been several years since I’ve worn them.  After putting them on, I was pleasantly surprised with the not only the quality, but the color.  Their hosiery is guaranteed to wear at least 4 times without a run or your money back, and so far so good after my first wear!  Because these they are “Designed for women of colour by a woman of colour”, I felt confident in finding a shade that is near an exact match to my skin tone.  For my sheer pair, I chose the color Fava and I was not disappointed.  The color was perfect, and they felt very luxurious like silk.  They are sheer to the toe so I felt just fine wearing them with open-toe pumps.  I also received a sheer black pair, and they looked and felt just as amazing as the skin tone pair, great for the day as well as evenings out.  Both pairs of pantyhose also have a very comfortable control top, so I also have the support that I was looking for.  Their website offers a wonderful “Buying Guide” section which will show you all of their colors, sizes (A to 2x), and how to best care for your pair of Frangi Pangi pantyhose.

Frangi Pangi founder and Chief Executive, Jocelyn Maminta, spent  years developing the concept for this line of luxury pantyhose in such a wide range of colours that there is truly a shade for every woman. As a woman of colour herself, Jocelyn saw the need for a greater selection  than she was able to find as a consumer. In her words, “There is no need to settle for less anymore.”

What impressed me the most about Frangi Pangi is that they support Caroline’s Room, whose mission is “to ease the trauma of families with children in neonatal intensive care”.  Not only is Jocelyn Maminta the founder and CEO of Frangi Pangi, but she is also a broadcast journalist at News 8 WTNH and the co-founder of Caroline’s Room.  Profits from Frangi Pangi goes to support the funding of Caroline’s Room.  It’s always nice to lend support to a company that not only cares about women and their quest for style by offering a wider range of colors and sizes in their hosiery, but gives back to their community and Frangi Pangi is just such a company.

Rainbow Tights

I was talking to a friend and fellow blogger at work (she’s linked on my blogroll under FishouttaH2O Photography), and she asked me where she can get a good pair of textured tights that are not just black.

That got me thinking…so, here are a few good places that I’ve found to prepare for the fall and winter seasons in tights that are not just your basic black:

Hue.com – One of the first names that come to mind when I think of hosiery.

Target – I always head to Target first to their hosiery and socks department for great prices and decent selection.

American Apparel – Great selection of colors in their opaque tights.

Kohls – I love the Simply Vera Wang indigo tights I bought there.  Such a subtle contrast with an all black outfit.

ASOS – They usually have a great selection of tights, but I don’t see them right now.  Check the sale selection.  I bought a great pair of burgundy tights there for only $3 (US).

Topshop – The selection at the stores is even better, but you’ll still get a great selection online.  Check out the Henry Holland House Tights!

New Look – I regret not buying every color of the tights I saw on sale when I was last in London.

DSW – They don’t have a great selection online.  But when you’re in line getting ready to check out at an actual store location, you can grab a great pair at the last-minute at racks near the registers (I included the link in case your fancy turns to shoes, like mine just did).

Navy Exchange – You have to be in the military or be related to someone in the military to shop at a store or log onto the site.  But if you get the chance to, it’s worth it.  The one that we shop at has an entire wall of hosiery.

Lori’s Shoes – Just bought my clogs there!  Great selection of shoes and hosiery, plus great customer service.
