Here are the rest of my photos from the #ModeMay Instagram photo-a-day challenge by DepecheMode.com. I had SO much fun with this photo challenge! True, part of the fun was getting two of my photos selected to be re-posted by DepecheMode.com, but most of the fun was the creativity, seeing all of the other wonderful pictures and meeting new people to interact with and follow on Instagram. It’s nice to know there are so many kindred spirits who share the same love for Depeche Mode as I do. As always, thank you for following along, especially when I indulge in sharing some of my favorite things. Enjoy!

As promised, here are my pictures from #ModeMay, a photo-a-day challenge on Instagram from DepecheMode.com (original post here). I’m posting just day 1 through 16 first, then the last half afterwards. All items pictured are from my personal collection. Enjoy!

May 3rd: Construction Time Again
May 4th: Some Great Reward (autographed by Alan Wilder)
Last month, the folks at DepecheMode.com held an Instagram photo-a-day challenge called #ModeMay. Each day, fans were asked to post a picture with the theme of the challenge of the day. Later that night, DepecheMode.com would re-post their favorite fan image. I almost didn’t participate, because I found out about it on Day 2 of the challenge and had to catch up. I will post all of my pictures on two separate posts this week, but here is the exciting news: Two of my images were chosen! Words could not express the excitement I felt to have my simple pictures chosen by DepecheMode.com, especially since all of the images were from my personal collection. Oh, and a very happy belated birthday to Alan Wilder, who turned 55 yesterday. Hope you all had a great weekend!
Here is the first of two images that were chosen. Black Celebration was the theme, and I made the last minute decision to just post all of my records from that album. About two hours later, my picture was reposted!
I floated between creative pictures, and straightforward pictures of my collection. For this day, I recruited my son and my niece to emulate the shadow image on the cover of the single “World In My Eyes”. It ended up being the second of my images to be chosen!
Here is another recap of the “record a day” photo project I’m participating in on Instagram. Have I mentioned just how much I’m loving this?!
Collage 1 (top photo, clockwise from the top left): 1) Day 5: Compilation/soundtrack – I bought “The Exposed 2” compilation because of The Hitmen & OMD. The Hitmen was a group Alan Wilder was once in; 2) Day 6: Picture Disc – “Fantastic Day” by Haircut 100. This is from my sister’s collection (which is at my house); 3) Day 7: Any 7 inch – Oblivious by Aztec Camera, one of my faves; 4) Day 8: An album from the 80’s – “Mange Tout” by Blancmange from 1984.
Collage 2: Day 9: Transparent colored record -“Closer” by Joy Division, purchased from Third Eye Record Shop during Record Store Day last year (post here).
Day 10: Any 10 inch – “Backwards and Forwards” by Aztec Camera. I thought I lost this!
Day 11: Collection of an artist – My largest vinyl collection is by far that of Depeche Mode. These are just the singles (not yet pictured are my 12 inch records, albums and special editions).
Day 12: Artist that starts with J – Japan. “Gentlemen Take Polaroids” is my favorite song by them.
Here are more photos from the February “Photo a Day” challenge (original post here). I’m enjoying this challenge because I feel it forces me to think about composition and subject, which allows me to not to be so literal. I realize I’m always inspired by music when thinking about subjects other than myself or my family. What inspires you?
February 11 – Makes You Happy (My husband and son saw “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace” in 3D on the day I took this photo.)
February 12 – Inside Your Closet
February 13 – Blue (“It’s Called a Heart” by Depeche Mode on blue vinyl, imported from Germany, from my personal collection.)
February 14 – Heart (I called this “Human Heart Mode”.)
February 15 – Phone (“Old School” phone from Pottery Barn, so it’s not a true rotary phone. My niece asked “Is that the kind of phone you used in the 80’s?”)
I started participating (a month late) in a photo meme called “Photo a Day Challenge” by Fat Mum Slim. Most of these photos are from the early part of the February challenge, which I did on Instagram. My favorite was from the February 2nd photo theme called “words”. This is great meme and I can’t wait to see the different daily themes for the rest of the year.
