Snap Happy

Aren’t my fuchsia platform pumps FAB?

I discovered an addicting new app through the Minkette blog called Snapette.  If you recall my post on Pose (seen here), it’s basically the same type of photo app, but truly more dedicated to accessories.  I love this app because I can be anywhere, in any store and just snap my favorite accessories, in addition to snapping some that I already have from outfit posts.  And just like Pose, I can upload my “snaps” to my favorite forms of social media (in my case, Facebook and Twitter).

The Snapette Rebecca Minkoff contest ends today (contest was March 5-March 19), so you still have a chance to download this great app and enter.  In the meantime, I wanted to share some of the snaps I uploaded of my favorite accessories (a couple ended up in their “Hot” section).  Happy snapping!

Vintage Judith Leiber

More Rebecca Minkoff, and a preview of an upcoming outfit post (can you tell how much I love RM?)

Off-White Wedding Wear

I posted yesterday about the wedding we attended last week and how much I loved the vintage/retro feel of it all (see the post here).  I instinctively knew that I needed to also dress the part myself, and found this beautiful floral dress in vibrant colors.  I have three vintage Judith Leiber purses, but this one is my favorite.  I thought I’d also do up my son in a cute little get-up, since he’s always sneaking into my outfit pictures!

Out of Focus

Sometimes you have to work with what you’re given and the best pictures from this little pictorial were not quite in focus. After putting them up and previewing them, I ended up liking the soft and blurry effect.

There’s a tiny bit of mixology in my outfit (ala The Glamourai) with the pin-striped skirt, leopard print shirt and tweed jacket. But it looked like rain, so I didn’t have time to take the jacket off before I dashed behind the mall to grab a few shots of what I was wearing while getting to my next errand.

(Note:  Today is the anniversary of my father’s death.  I didn’t want to call it out in it’s own post because my previous blog was almost exclusively about how I was coping with his death, and this blog is a celebration of life.  So in this blog, I decided to have celebration posts when it’s his birthday or my parents anniversary instead of marking the opposite.  I just wanted to take a moment to mention how much I love him and miss him.  I love you daddy!)

Layered in Laundry

I remember I bought this dress when we used to have these sample sale stores that opened up in old warehouses or empty spaces in buildings that were between construction. I really didn’t think they were true sample sales because the store would be there for several months before closing and to me, sample sales were open for only a few days. I have since lost track of these “stores” and I now wish I could locate them again because I was getting great designer items for next to nothing, like this Laundry by Shelli Segal dress.

Channeling Louise Brooks

Louise Brooks

Ever since I saw “Pandora’s Box” in one of my film classes at UCSD, I had a fascination with Louise Brooks.  I’ve always loved the era of the 20’s and 30’s.  I love the movie and musical “Chicago” and have seen both the movie (many times) and the musical (just once).  Everyone seemed to be dressed as if they were always going out on the town, no matter what time of day it was.

My most favorite thing about Louise Brooks was her hair style.  When I think of the “Page Boy” or “Bob” haircut, I think immediately of the sleek banged look of Louise Brooks.

I’ve been growing my hair out because I know my husband loves it when my hair is longer.  With the weather being all over the map these days and trying to chase after a toddler, I’ve found that I’m constantly opting for putting my hair up in a pony-tail rather than taking time to really work on it.   My hair is very thick and requires quite a bit of attention and time, which I really don’t have in the morning before taking off for a job that starts at 6am!

To resolve that issue, I have decided to go back to what I love best.  I’m sorry my dear husband, but the long locks just had to go.  I also think it went perfect with my outfit for FNO, don’t you think?
