Monkeying Around at Kipling’s Fashion Valley Grand Opening!

IMG_7191

I took my family to the grand opening of Kipling’s first full price retail location in the San Diego area at Fashion Valley.  As I’ve mention previously, my mum is a big fan of Kipling, and really only carries their brand of crossbody bags, totes, and backpacks.  After getting to know the company, I can see why!

Our tale is a fun one that dates back to 1987, when three designer pals in Antwerp, Belgium stumbled upon a happy accident on a loom and discovered crinkled nylon fabric … and voila! A world of bright and colorful bags and accessories were born. Playfully dubbed Kipling, after the clever little spirit of the monkeys in Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, our story came to life and has been an inspiration around the world ever since. – From the official Kipling Website

The new store is bright, colorful and fun just like their bags!  I know my mum loves the utility of Kipling’s purses in their signature crinkle nylon.  She never has to worry about her purses getting wet or having stuck zippers, and is never lacking for easy style.

It was a change of pace for me to bring more than just my hubby or son to an event, but it made for a fun late afternoon with my family.  Be sure to visit Kipling’s newest location at Fashion Valley, cheers!

Make Happy: Kipling Opens at Fashion Valley August 7th!

Kipling event August 2015

Kipling and it’s adorable little monkey has been a long time favorite of my mum.  Her loyalty to the brand is admirable, so I’m sure she will be happy to know that Kipling will be opening it’s very first full priced retail store in San Diego at Fashion Valley!  In fact, Kipling is holding a lovely little soiree that you are all invited to this Friday from 5pm-8pm with a live DJ, sips, bites and a free Kipling tote if you spend $150 in-store that night (while supplies last).

I’ll be there with my family, so be sure to stop by!

Wanted: Les Petits Joueurs Bags & Accessories

Alex Black Widow

I’ve been a lover of Lego since my childhood.  My mother-in-law has been collecting Lego sets for our son since he was born.  Now that Dominic is five, his love for Lego has grown exponentially, especially since The Lego Movie has been out (we’ve seen it twice, and we are planning a trip to LEGOLAND in the near future).  Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine Lego would become a fashionable part of my life, until now.  I follow eclectic fashion blogger, Georgiana Boboc, (of Vintage Traffic) on Instagram, and she posted an amazing purse:  a shoulder bag with the word “Love” emblazoned in Lego!  Designed by Maria Sole Cecchi, the Les Petits Joueurs collection (translation Little Player) is completely fun and I am coveting everything they have (especially the Janis Piano clutch in glitter calf leather and the Alex Mondrian).  Someday, I hope to add a purse or two from this creative collection to my own!

Bloomingdale’s: Cargo and Carry

Blank Skinny Cargo Pants - Bloomingdale's

I’m loving the “Skinny Cargo” style that I’ve been seeing lately.  Bloomingdale’s has a nice section on their site called “Denim Alternatives” that shows off the brands they have for this cute trend.

My husband loves the cargo shorts to play golf in and to relax in for our mini family trips on the weekends.  So now my son has adopted his relaxed style with his own little cargo shorts.  I’ve always liked that rugged yet urban/utilitarian look cargos have, especially now that it’s in a slimmer more stylish look which fits my taste a bit more.

What I also found on the Bloomies site was their “Bag A Day” give away.   If you just found out about it like I did (how did I miss that email?), then you also missed out on a weeks worth of  “Bag A Day” entries.  Fear not my fellow fashionista!  There is still time to get in on the action until August 15th.  Just go to the Bloomingdale’s site and click on the link on the very bottom of the page to enter your information, or you can click here:  Bag A Day.  I’ve already started my entries…is it wishful thinking to start making room for in my closet for them?
