There were a few events that I forgot to post about, which happened prior to the Daddy Daughter Trip movie premiere, and then hopefully, I’ll be able to keep up with my posts!
Immersive Monet & The Impressionists
Back on July 28, 2022 I attended the VIP Grand Opening Night of Immersive Monet & The Impressionists at Lighthouse Artspace, with Susan of Styles Revealed. Another wonderful immersive art experience, but I think the photo op below was one of my favorites for sure!
Meeting Comedian JoKoy!
Back in August 2022, I saw Easter Sunday, Jo Koy’s new movie with my hubby. But I then saw it again when I heard he was going to be appearing at movie theaters all over the country! I made sure to catch the showing at Harkins Theaters in Scottsdale and finally got to meet him and get an autographed poster! If you check out my Instagram post, you’ll see that he also voluntarily recorded a greeting for my sister!
Anoche Preview Night
Also in August 2022, Susan (StylesRevealed) invited me to be her guest at the VIP preview a new concept restaurant/night club in Tempe called Anoche Cantina. We got to try a small menu of drinks and bites, in addition to hanging out with some of our influencer friends, like Cynthia Sassi of Fabulous Arizona (image just below)!
“What She Said” Speaker Event
I posted that I would be attending the “What She Said” Speaker Event as an invited influencer at the end of August 2022, and it was really amazing! Not only were we treated to several inspiring speakers, I was able to be a part of TWO different podcasts! One has already been posted, which is “Boss Babe Life Hacks” by Farrah Larae, and the other was for Fashion Rewired for Brian Hill of Phoenix Fashion Week.
Wonderspaces Arizona at Scottsdale Fashion Square
I was invited by Wonderspaces AZ to check out their amazing interactive gallery space at Scottsdale Fashion Square, and took my family on Labor Day weekend. There was so much fantastic art to look at and actually experience, both in person and virtually. Their gallery changes regularly, so we have to go back and check out what’s new soon!
FTC Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets and/or invitations to some of the events in this post. Although I did receive complimentary tickets and/or invitations, the opinions in this blog post are my own.
Hello! I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted on the blog, but I promise that I’ve been up to only good things!
One of the amazing things that happened recently is that I’m a crew member/rep for Baby Teith! Baby Teith is an amazing brand out of Arizona, created by Tiffe Fermaint, who started it in 2013 while expecting her daughter. What I love most about this brand is that there is something for your whole family and home (including your furry family members), featuring so many of my favorite bands and music, like David Bowie, Joy Division and of course, Depeche Mode!
As a crew member, one of the perks I get to share is a discount code! Use code ANY2NDNOW for 10% off your purchase at https://babyteith.com/
I’m diving back into posting again by way of fashion: I’ve been asked to give my “Top 5” picks for Phoenix Fashion Week’s Spring Into Style Editorial Trend Photo Challenge for 2020! The Spring Into Style event is so much fun because it not only showcases amazing fashion, but challenges designers and stylists to think about what they are presenting and how it represents themselves and their brand. I’m so excited as this year’s challenge was a bit different for the stylists and designers. They have been asked to style 20 different trends, and to create a photo editorial of that trend, in anticipation of the upcoming runway show. While all the photos are simply amazing, I have selected my top 5 according to photo style, and presentation of their trend.
TREND: Draping &
Wrapping
Brand: Activ Intimates by CJ & Laurie
Of my top 5 picks, this was by far the most visually
stunning. I felt that the trend was met
head-on by the way the garment draped and flowed. The background had enough light to add drama
and contrast to the photo, and I felt like the photo had movement to it. I also really love when blues are presented
with black, because the transition is subtle, yet you know it’s there. The statement earrings give just enough
detailing to the outfit, without overpowering it. Beautiful picture!
TREND: Color Clash
Brand: IndiStyleU by India Purnell
This 80’s girl loves anything to do with vinyl records, so
this automatically caught my eye! But
what I love is that it definitely presented the trend well by bringing together
red & purple. The color blocking in
this photo is styled well, bringing in the red in the accessories, popping
against that great deep purple color. This
outfit would brighten up any party, and turn heads in the process. I also like that the belt and gloves have the
same matted shine, which looks chic and luxurious.
TREND: Rugby Shirts
Brand: Being Dapper by JC Donaldson
Rugby shirts are a great wardrobe piece for men because it’s sporty yet chic, and this picture shows that trend so well. The yellow coat makes the outfit pop, and Chelsea boots are always classic. This is a well put together outfit, with a vintage feel because of that amazing setting. I can see this gentleman walking in, all eyes on him because he is so stylish, yet casually having drinks at the bar. He owns the room in a big way!
TREND: Red
Brand: Christine Adar by Christine Ammon
I remember this dress from the Phoenix Fashion Week 2019
fall runway, and it was a show stopper!
I know that the dress is hand painted and the shades of red are bold and
beautiful. What
I especially love is how the red jumps out against the black fabric, really
highlighting the trend.
TREND: Bad Romance
Brand: Melissa Torres Designs by Mia Torres
I really like the pink contrasted with the black in this lovely
photo! The black statement necklace and
headpiece are what make this trend come alive, especially against the flow of the
garment.
Thank you Phoenix Fashion Week for asking me to pick my Top 5 for this year’s Spring Into Style Editorial Trend Photo Challenge! For all of the photos in this challenge, please see the Phoenix Fashion Week Instagram Page. I can’t wait to see these all on the runway soon!
This Saturday is Phoenix Fashion Week’s “Spring into Style” event, showcasing six top Arizona stylists with six runway shows, and one stylist will win “Stylist of the Year”. Featured stylists include: • Ashley Paige – 80’s Fashion • Beth Yohanny – White on White • Braden Conwell – Utility • Candace Carter – Monochrome • Jazmine Nash – All Doll’d Up • Timothy Boado – Men’s Box Suits
In the meantime, here are some pictures from last year’s Phoenix Fashion Week 2018 runway shows, including what I wore each night. Cheers!
I’m finally ready to share my pictures from this year’s Phoenix Fashion Week! It was definitely a whirlwind of fashion and fun, which all began with Media Day at Talking Stick Resort. I got the chance to meet some of the designers, models and people who have put together PHXFW in a relaxed atmosphere. Next week, I’ll break down each day, including what I wore!

This past week has been the busiest since moving to Arizona, and I’m going through my own pictures as well as bringing you pictures from some of my talented friends to recap my Phoenix Fashion Week experience!
The picture above is from PHXFW’s Instagram page, and I want to thank Executive Director Brian Hill, Sofia Reyes on the Operations Team and all at PHXFW for allowing me to have this wonderful experience and to work with them as one of their Cox Livestream Partners.
I will have coverage and pictures from Media Day and all three days of Phoenix Fashion Week, so stay tuned!
Either join the runway shows live on October 18, 19 and 20th at Talking Stick Resort, or get all of the front row action and livestream the 3-day event at PhoenixFashionWeek.cleeng.comand at the following links:
In addition to watching the livestreams of the runway shows, be sure to check out my Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts for behind the scenes footage of each day’s events. See you on the runway at PHXFW!
A couple of weeks ago, I attended one of my favorite annual events at Fashion Valley’sNeiman Marcus: The Spring Trend Event! I’m getting back into the swing of things with my posting, so this one will be full of pictures. Although the lunch is fantastic, the fashion is always front and center, as styled by the amazingly talented Alex Yanez.
Check out all of the his & hers spring trends below, cheers!
My friends, family and co-workers often comment on my style, saying that I’m daring and different, which I really take as a compliment. There isn’t much I won’t wear, but whatever it is that I’m trying out for the first time has to fit my edgy style. I’m no stranger to solid leggings, denim “jeggings” or printed jeans (see posts here, here and here), but I haven’t worn any kind of brightly patterned leggings since the bold floral ones I wore in high school. I think I feared that a printed legging was too “revealing” because although they were technically pants, they were very form-fitting and felt like tights that should be worn under a long knee-length tunic or dress. Leggings just hug everything, and maybe they weren’t supposed to be worn by a 40-something-year-old like me and should be left to those leggy supermodels! Black leggings are easy to wear because they are, you know: black. But printed leggings were a bit of a conundrum for me because I wasn’t entirely sure if I loved them enough to wear them outside of a yoga class or at-home-lounge-wear. The athleisure trend is growing more and more in popularity, so integrating leggings into one’s wardrobe has become part of the norm. After promoting Elastic Wonder’s newest venture (blog post here), and being inspired by the “Try-Day Friday” initiative from plus size clothing company Dia&Co, I thought I’d finally put up this outfit post.
I worked on this outfit post with my sister months ago, when one of my friends asked me to try LulaRoe leggings because she was one of their “Retailers” at the time. I decided to finally figure out what all the hype was about because so many of my friends were telling me how soft they were and that the prints were fun. Being the kind of fashion blogger that I am, I just couldn’t picture myself in kinds of whimsical prints that were available through the collection she presented in her online trunk show. After viewing many-a-legging later, I finally found a pair that I felt I could style: star printed leggings.
Truth be told, the LulaRoe leggings are very soft and the elastic is comfortable on the waist. Really, I chose these leggings not only for the star print, but because there were only three distinct colors: silver, yellow and black. I know that the attraction to these leggings are that their prints are unique and bold, but I would rather wear leggings in a variety of bright solid colors, or a simple bold houndstooth or checker print.
I’d like to say a special thanks to Dia&Co for the inspiration to finally have a reason to share these pictures, not only because we should all dare to try something new, but because I really loved the location my sister and I picked to do this photo shoot: Albert Einstein Academics in South Park. Let me know if there are any fashion fears you are willing to face and try out on a “Try-Day Friday” in the comments below. Cheers and have a great weekend!

It’s been a busy year for The Chen Family! From getting new jobs to graduating college, we’ve been busy bees since the start of 2017. As a blogger, I do have the occasional post that I’m required to upload no matter what, but there are also many events that I get invited to that I share mostly on my social media platforms. Outside of those required posts, I’ve finally found time to post a few catch up posts of all the wonderful events I’ve attended in the first six months of this year.
Cheers!
Louis Vuitton x Unicef – 1/12/17
One of my blogger friends, Ashley Pöppe, works at Louis Vuitton at Fashion Valley and occasionally invites fellow bloggers and stylists to events there. At the Louis Vuitton x Unicef, a specially designed Lockit pendant and bracelet that was created to help children in urgent need was presented for purchase. For each sale, $200 was donated to UNICEF.
This wonderful bootie is called “The Ranger”
Easily my favorite set of pictures from that night! Kali from In Spades is a lovely friend and a blogger who I’ve come to know better in this interesting and creative world of blogging. There was a person stationed at this picture spot who just made us crack up as he was taking our picture, and we loved that he captured every giggle-filled moment!
Grand Opening of Flourish By Blues & Shoes – 2/18/17
Flourish by Blues & Shoes opened in February of this year where The Beat Clothing used to be in Carlsbad. Although I will miss The Beat dearly (see posts here and here), Flourish is a unique bohemian shopping experience with beautiful clothing, accessories and home goods!
Malia Designs Spring Collection 2017 – 3/16/17
I was introduced to Malia Designs two years ago (posts here and here), and I do everything I can to laud their cause, as they support the fight against human trafficking. They introduced their spring collection earlier this year at the Rigby & Pellar store in Fashion Valley.
It’s always fun to attend runway shows when I can, even when I arrive late! I attended the Primavera Fashion Show at Fashion Valley in celebration of the San Diego Latino Film Festival, and caught this video capture that I shared on my Instastories, as I arrived “fashionably late” from my office in Carlsbad.
Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer Collection 2017 – 3/31/17
Maria Von Losch is a stylist, author and blogger of Savvynista who I’ve also come to know. I’ve had the pleasure of being invited to a few of her events, including this one at Macy’s in Fashion Valley. During this showcase, she featured festival style, showing multiple ways of wearing the same piece.
A Stargazer Brunch at Vocabulary Boutique – 5/7/17
Cecilia Church, owner of Vocabulary Boutique, always has wonderful events either on location at her shop in Little Italy, or somewhere fabulous in San Diego. I’ll put up a full post of her most recent event on a catamaran (yes, shopping on a boat), but I also attended their delightful “A Stargazing Brunch” the day before my birthday back in May, complete with celestial cookies and a Tarot card reader!
How fabulous are these cookies?
I adore my Taurus necklace, a gift from Vocabulary Boutique!
Fashion Week San Diego Spring Showcase 2017 – 5/13/17
Fashion Week San Diego celebrates their 10th year anniversary this year, and I have been attending since 2013. Back in May, I attended the FWSD Spring Showcase 2017, which is the kickoff event to all of the celebrations leading up to the runway shows in October.
With Fatsani of Tasanni, one of the designers featured in FWSD 2015
I purchased a fabulous leather cuff from Alber Rezko (a jewelry designer who showed at FWSD 2014 & 2015) and a FWSD bomber jacket!
Natuzzi Italia Collection at Hold It Home – 5/18/17
Hold It Contemporary Home in Mission Valley had a VIP celebration back in May because they added luxury brand Natuzzi Italia to their showroom. Pasquale Natuzzi founded The Natuzzi Italia Group in 1959, and is Italy’s largest furniture house. The designs are beautiful, sleek, and meticulously designed and the event was fun to attend!
Sips & Sparkle with Art In The Find and Touchstone Crystal – 6/15/17
Conni of the blog Art in the Find had a fun event in June with Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski at the beautiful Bay Club Carmel Valley. Touchstone Crystal is a more contemporary arm of Swarovski, allowing more casual designs with the same quality crystals, that can be worn everyday.
