Pop!

DSC04168 (2) (1280x1280)While in Palm Springs, I was able to sneak in an outfit post of a very casual summer outfit.  Although it was a little too warm to keep the hat and sweater on all day there in Palm Springs, it was still a great comfy outfit to wear while traveling home to San Diego after a wonderful weekend.  Besides, there’s no point in covering up such an awesome t-shirt, right?  The combination of my cute little tee and fantastic clutch (which converts to a cross-body with an add-on strap) made everything…pop!

I Confess

DSC00266 (2) (853x1280)

I first heard about Miista shoes when they followed me on Twitter.  I love discovering new brands, and lately I find out them due to follows on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.  I must confess that it was love at first sight when I went to the website, and I have been fascinated ever since (I used a couple of their shoes in some recent Polyvore collages, here and here).  These are my first pair from Miista called the Gabi, and these shoes – along with everything that I see on their site – are show stoppers.  I’m not one to shy away from a fantastic pair of shoes, and these shoes start conversations.  Each time I wear them, I get stopped because people either want to know where I got them, or just to tell me they are an awesome pair of shoes.  I wore them recently to the Shimmer event that I went to a few weeks ago, and because they are flatforms, they gave me the height I needed while remaining comfortable.  I’ve already have a second pair from Miista’s AW2012 sale, and I’m deciding what to get next from their Electromancer SS2013 collection, which is simply ah-mazing.

Note: Miista is a UK based company, and I just realized how many English items I’m wearing other than my shoes: London Underground cuff, English Beat shirt (the title of this post is one of their songs), Union Jack purse, London map ring, and hidden under my shirt is my belt with a Union Jack buckle.  I must really miss London!

Edited to add on 2/5/2013: Check me out on Miista’s site (here)!  When you purchase shoes from Miista (directly from their site or the many retailers that sell their brand), take an outfit photo featuring their shoes and submit it to you at miista dot com, and you could win a free pair in a monthly drawing.  I didn’t win this month, but I’m going to keep trying!

Pretty Vacant

IMG_3945 (2) (915x1280)

I wore this to the San Diego Style Bloggers meet up last November, but did not get the chance to post the pictures.  The only difference is that I’m wearing my new Bon Look glasses and different shoes.  It was raining the night of the meet up, so I wore boots rather than these fuchsia pumps, fearing that they would be ruined.  I know it’s a bold outfit, but this Sex Pistols shirt deserved some strong elements like the pops of color and metal accessories, like the Swear Rings and the London Underground cuff.  The lyrics “We’re so pretty/oh so pretty” kept coming to mind while taking these pictures.  Pretty? I hope you all think so!  Vacant? Not a chance!

Leave The BOY Alone!

Leave The BOY Alone
I know I haven’t posted any outfits in a while, so I’m using Polyvore to post something I would definitely wear.  I love BOY LONDON, and just purchased a sweatshirt from ASOS (pictured below).  This brand was iconic in the 80’s and has recently made a resurgence.  I’m not sure why I didn’t buy any BOY LONDON while I was in London this summer, but I’m making up for it now.  Don’t be surprised to see me rocking something similar to this outfit on the blog very soon!

A New Indie Shopping Experience: Young Republic

When I think of the term “Indie”, it always reminds me of new and interesting bands or music that is off the beaten path.  Through my own fashion journey, I’ve also discovered indie label designers and artists.  To add to this indie designer theme I seem to be on this week, I was recently asked to check out a new shopping site called Young Republic.  This site was established on August 27th, 2012 in Sydney, Australia by Marianne Sea and Andrew Yang and features over 750 independent international designers.  I’ll have to say that I was very impressed by the variety this site has to offer.  I found plenty of jewelry, clothing and accessories that I would like for myself, but also for my whole family and even for my home.  The following are pictures are just a tiny sampling of the hundreds of fantastic finds on Young Republic.  I chose two images from the “Home+Life” section, and two designers that became instant favorites: designhype and LeMuse.  Support independent designers by visiting Young Republic!

Orange Clock by Objectify Homeware

Panda iPhone Case by Hooby Groovy (fits 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S)

Deep Blue felted wool Bell muse coat by LeMuse

Black double collar Flower Muse felted wool coat with viscose lining by LeMuse (this coat is stunning!)

NYC Metro Cuff in cyan by designhype

London Tube Cuff in black by designhype (I have this one; outfit post to come!)

This is their new Christmas Collection 2012 (click on the link on the left or the picture). I’ll have one of everything please!
