Flower Power

DSC01080 (2) (852x1280)

Floral prints always look and feel fresh.  It’s been awhile since I’ve worn this much pink in one outfit.  But because it’s so wonderfully bright and sunny these days, I felt like I wanted to infuse a little of that into my work outfit.  I paired my floral pants and bubblegum pink blouse with some floral pieces: a necklace with a vintage pin as the pendant, and my favorite Spanish gold earrings that I bought back in the 80’s in Old Town San Diego.

Love In Itself

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and those of us in the San Diego Style Bloggers community are showing how we do up the day.  I saw a segment on Refinery 29 on how Aimee Song (of the blog Song of Style) styled boyfriend jeans (article here).  She paired them with an oxblood colored tuxedo jacket, a simple t-shirt and fantastic heels.  I took note and borrowed her style for something that I would wear for a quiet dinner out with my husband.  I decided to add a bit more shine by layering rhinestone necklaces, but kept my edge with the studded clutch.   Also, I must bring special attention to the beautiful lace-up pumps that I got over the weekend during the first day of the Prabal Gurung for Target collaboration.  I don’t know what it is about shoes, but I fall in love with a new pair a few times a month, and I am completely enmoured with these lovelies.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow with their special someone!

Old Navy

When I bought this sweater, it immediately reminded me of my father and old pictures of him when he was in the navy.  I decided to really do up the outfit and I came up with something that made me feel like a vintage sailor girl, circa 1920’s to 1940’s.  Then my sister and I went out to Harbor Drive near Downtown San Diego, so that we could have pictures with The USS Midway in the background.  It was a beautiful day, which really made the pictures even more like the ones in our dad’s old photo albums, especially with the sepia color.  I miss my dad, and it’s nice when we can pay some homage to him in small ways.

Weekend in Pictures: The Nutella Breakfast Tour & The Target + Neiman Marcus Collection

I know it’s a Friday, and I usually do my “Weekend in Pictures” posts on a Monday, but I had to move this to accommodate my niece’s birthday post.  I’ve spoken about my love for Nutella in a couple of posts (here and here), and my hubby has been eating Nutella since he was five, back when he visited Germany.  Although it’s not very Whole30, my family had to visit their truck when I heard that the Nutella Breakfast Tour was coming to San Diego.  They made a stop at the Mission Valley Mall, and we got free samples, stickers and shirts.  I think I was way more excited than my husband or son about the whole event!

On the same weekend, I checked out the Target + Neiman Marcus Collection.  I was glad to see that the Target at the Mission Valley Mall was pretty well stocked.  I’ve had my eye on the Proenza Schouler sweatshirt, so that was the only thing I bought during that visit (it’s completely adorable, and I’ll be sure to think up an outfit to post).  I think I’m going to have to sneak off on my own to spend a little more time looking at everything to see if I like anything else (the Marc Jacobs rose gold pouch, Brian Atwood studded leather gloves and Prabal Gurung cape come to mind).  This is not at all a hint to my husband for possible Christmas gift ideas…

My hubby will be off this weekend to see the Pittsburgh Steelers play the San Diego Chargers in the Steel City with his buddy.  Since I had my girl’s trip with Janice this summer in Europe, it’s only fitting that he has a get away as well to see his all time favorite team with just the boys.  We’ll be busy celebrating Mei-Lin’s birthday with a get together, which will be this weekend as well (I’m making the cake, so I’ll post pictures of the finished product).  Hope you have a great weekend!

Waiting by the Park

I didn’t get a chance to get my whole outfit for this picture, because I was busy watching my son play and I didn’t want to ask one of my cousins to stop and take an outfit picture for me.  We went to a birthday party for my cousin Regi’s son, Riley, a few weekends ago at a local park.  It was still quite hot here in San Diego at that time, so cut-offs were still okay to wear.  I’m excited because we finally are getting cooler weather, which means boots and layers!

Outfit – Joy Division tee (Urban Outfitters); Mossimo denim shorts (Target); Steven by Steve Madden booties; Rebecca Minkoff Covet purse & studded leather cuff; Shamballa bracelet c/o Cutey UK; Unknown brand studded silver bracelet

Clever Cousins

I love how close my son and niece are.  Even though they bicker every now and again, they are quite the clever cousins!  Whether they’re having a staring contest or just running around together at the playground in the local mall, Mei-Lin and Dominic adorable together.  Hope you had a great weekend!

Dominic’s outfit – Lids hat; Harajuku Mini hoodie; H&M shirt; Guess jeans; Target shoes (unseen)

Mei-Lin’s outfit – Beautees shirt & skirt; Target tights & shoes (shoes unseen); Headband, gift from Nana

Something Blue

As a part of the whole romantic theme surrounding Valentine’s Day, I attended a wedding this weekend, along with my sister and mom (our hubbies watched the kids).  The wedding was for my God sister, Tricia and her new husband Luis.  I only had my cell phone, so I didn’t get any pictures of the wedding itself or of the bride and groom.  With my limited flash capability, I just took quick shots of some the beautiful table settings and borrowed some pictures from my fantastically fashionable friend, Amy.  Love is definitely in the air this week!

Outfit – Cotton On sweater; Jason Wu for Target dress; Forever 21 purse; Gunmetal shoes

Jason Wu for Target

I was browsing through a couple of my favorite magazines recently, and found ads for the newest designer to contribute to Target’s  “Go International” series: Jason Wu.  The line hits Target stores on February 5, 2012 and prices range from $19.99 to $59.99.  I must admit that I never paid too much attention to his designs before, but I feel that Jason Wu gained much more attention because he’s one the First Lady’s favorite designers.  These ads really made me sit up and take notice, because of the colors, prints and especially the purses.  What do you think?  Have a great weekend!

(Want more?  They’ve got the whole collection available to view on Fashionista here.  It’s official, I’m in love with this whole line!)

Mod Hatter

This is the latest addition to my hat collection. It’s from the Albertus Swanepoel for Target line. There were so many wonderful hats from this new line, but this one spoke to me as I walked by, beckoning me to purchase it. I love the dual colors and the bow detail.  I bought this right before Thanksgiving in hopes of taking some outfit pictures while I was in Las Vegas. But alas, with so much food, family and fun, I never got around to taking any outfit pictures (well, just the ones below while getting ready for dinner; I’ll have more pictures from our family celebration later this week). I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and holiday!

Sheer & Shorts

It’s unmistakably summer here in San Diego. I wore this running around with my son, going first to the mall then to a birthday party at the park.  It was perfect because it was light, cool and I didn’t have to fuss with it at all.  Dominic and I also jumped around in one of those “bounce houses”.  The elastic at the bottom of the shirt definitely kept my shirt from going places it shouldn’t!

Outfit – Forever 21 shirt; Wet Seal tank; Mossimo for Target shorts; Coconuts sandals; Rebecca Minkoff purse; Michael Kors watch; Tiffany & Co necklace; Juicy Couture & Wendy Brandes rings; Coach Sunnies
