Resolution Goals for 2016: Closet Clean Out!

UXUS6474I must confess that I purposely didn’t further discuss my attempt at my “Fashion Sobriety” (original post here) because I failed so miserably.  I was doing well for about two months, and just crashed and burned.  I’m a shopper, and I can’t deny it.  Knowing myself and that I enjoy shopping immensely, what I can do is redirect how I shop and what I shop for.  I’m in a better position financially, so I’m going to do my own version of a capsule wardrobe, by purchasing more investment pieces and mixing it into what I love.  I realize now that my hair can be an “accessory”, updating my style with color and cut.  With my hair and other accessories, I can incorporate some of my favorite brands like Miista, Boy London, Irregular Choice and United Nude with higher end pieces to keep that “edge” that I’m always looking for.  This means I’m officially going to clean out my closet by selling older beloved higher end designer and mid-price pieces that have a lot of life left in them, and then donating the rest.  I can proudly say I’ve put my mini-light studio to good use and have already started an Any Second Now store on eBay (click the link to take you directly there)!  All listings are good for 30 days, and I will relist what doesn’t sell immediately.

Here are the first eight pairs of shoes I’m selling on eBay, directly from my closet, including the ones pictured above.  In fact, one pair has already sold, which really surprised me at how fast it happened.  I’ll be adding more items often, so I hope you stop by and check them out.

Happy shopping!

Just Put Yourself in My New Shoes

I apologize for the extremely sporadic posts lately.  I’m trying to re-establish a blogging schedule, because I actually do have quite a bit to post!  And because my life has been a bit chaotic, I’ve been living in flats lately, my newest additions being these awesome ballet ones from Tieks.  I posted about my first pair of these ever-so-comfy ballet flats last year (here & here).  In addition to the California Navy ones, I now own a pair each of the Burgundy (pictured above) and the Matte Black (pictured below).  I can take all my Tieks anywhere I go because they have a foldable split sole which means they travel extremely well (the Black Matte pair are with me everywhere).

What I appreciate the most about Tieks, outside of being the most convenient and comfortable shoes on the planet, is their customer service.  Their “Blue Prints” are always packaged in the most adorable box and adorned with a flower, and the notes they send are always personal and lovely.  If you haven’t tried a pair of these portable ballet flats, I highly recommend them.  Cheers!

FTC Disclosure:  I received a generous discount from Tieks as a courtesy, but not as compensation for this post.  Although I did receive a discount, the opinions in this post are strictly my own.

I'll Take More Than Another River Full

I know they’re not new, but I have found myself completely smitten with British brand River Island lately.  I made a couple of RI purchases on ASOS, including these lovelies (prior to Ash Wednesday, as I gave up shopping for Lent).  I keep seeing the chunky sandal trend everywhere and I didn’t think I would get into it, but the large pyramid studs on this pair sealed the deal for me.  I’m so glad I snapped them up because they are now sold out, but here are links to other awesome chunky sandals under the River Island brand on their official site and ASOS.

“Every amazing outfit first starts with a fabulous pair of shoes.”

– Marie Claire Creative Director, Nina Garcia

Love that quote by Nina Garcia!  And I am all about great shoes, so I’m up for anything that allows me the ability to step up my shoe game!  I just learned that Simon Malls has teamed up with the extremely popular worldwide publication, Marie Claire, on an exclusive shoe shopping guide called SHOES FIRST, and Fashion Valley Mall is one of four locations nationwide chosen to release it!  As a part of the multi-platform release, if you snap a picture of your favorite shoe style from the SHOES FIRST Shopping Guide at one of the “Pop-Up Selfie Stations” sprinkled throughout the mall, you could win a $500 Simon gift card to spend towards enhancing your own shoe wardrobe!  Check out all the information in the press release below, including a digital copy of the guide.  Happy shopping!

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (October 13, 2014) Fashion Valley, a Simon shopping destination, is one of four locations nationwide announcing the release of an exclusive SHOES FIRST Shopping Guide, inspired by Marie Claire Creative Director Nina Garcia’s famous fashion philosophy that, “Every amazing outfit first starts with a fabulous pair of shoes.”

Showcasing the season’s most covetable heels, boots, and flats, the SHOES FIRST Shopping Guide, a portable print booklet available at Guest Services, in common seating areas and at participating retailers, features the latest looks from H&M, Jimmy Choo, Michael Kors, Max Mara, GUESS, and more—all available for purchase at Fashion Valley.

Pop-up selfie stations are now strategically located throughout the center, encouraging shoppers to snap and share a photo of their personal favorite SHOES FIRST™ style using #foundatsimon and #contest for a chance to win a $500 Simon Giftcard.

“Our SHOES FIRST™ Shopping Guide brings the joy of discovering fashion to life via a beautifully curated style guide featuring shoes found at our malls,” said Chris Lane, director of marketing and business development at Fashion Valley.  “We are excited to offer unique style insight from Marie Claire exclusively to our fashion-conscious, shoe-hungry shoppers, who are the tastemakers of the San Diego market. We hope everyone takes advantage of the opportunity to showcase their style-savvy with our fun Shoe Selfie Stations.”

“Now in our second year of celebrating SHOES FIRST™, we’re beyond thrilled to extend the power—and reach—of this multiplatform movement,” said Nancy Berger Cardone, Vice President/Publisher/Chief Revenue Officer of Marie Claire. “The Marie Claire woman is shoe-obsessed, as is the Simon shopper, so it’s only fitting that we partner together on this special shopping initiative.”

This month, consumers nationwide are invited to visit simon.com to view a digital copy of the SHOES FIRST™ Shopping Guide, plus read an exclusive shoe-centric Q&A with Elana Zajdman, Associate Accessories Editor at Marie Claire.

DSC04168 (2) (1280x1280)While in Palm Springs, I was able to sneak in an outfit post of a very casual summer outfit.  Although it was a little too warm to keep the hat and sweater on all day there in Palm Springs, it was still a great comfy outfit to wear while traveling home to San Diego after a wonderful weekend.  Besides, there’s no point in covering up such an awesome t-shirt, right?  The combination of my cute little tee and fantastic clutch (which converts to a cross-body with an add-on strap) made everything…pop!

Between The Black & White

DSC03809 (2) (853x1280)

I’m a big fan of anything with a vintage feel, and I guess I was inspired by The Great Gatsby when I put this outfit together.  Although my hat is really a simple beanie, the large crochet flower just reminds me girls in flapper dresses and my shoes are a nod to gentleman wearing spats.  I kept my outfit from feeling too much like a costume by wearing jeans and keeping the colors limited to black and white with accents of silver.

Wanted: I'm a Sucker for Cleo B

I discovered British designer Cleo Barbour’s line, Cleo B, through the Instagram profile of Vanessa of FashionMixtape, and instantly fell in love.  Although Cleo has many fantastic shoes and accessories, I’ll have to say her “It’s Like That” line spoke to the musician and fashionista in me simultaneously.  Cassette tapes as heels, shoe clips and purses?  You know I’ll rock them!  Cheers and have a great weekend!
