My Finest City: FTF Blog Event for 4/6/2011

Kristy Elena of Sunglass Hut’s Full Time Fabulous is hosting a blog event today centered around either heritage or your current home city. Because putting together a post about my Filipino heritage would take more time than I had available for this event, I decided to post a simple pictorial of my hometown and current residence of San Diego, California.

I used Polyvore to gather some of my favorite images of San Diego, including the Jeffrey Campbell shoes I posted about yesterday named after my hometown. Being a native, I had to include my favorite hometown teams:ย  the Padres baseball team and the Chargers football team. I also added a couple of things I like to do like getting around my beautiful town and the world-famous Comic Convention, affectionately known to all here as “The Con”.

If you haven’t had the chance to visit “America’s Finest City”, come on down! It’s a big city that feels like a small town. But if you’re itching for some bright lights and big city, it’s just a 2 hour drive to Hollywood and a quick flight to San Francisco. I was born and raised here, met my husband here, and we are raising our son here. Although I claim to love several cities out there (especially London), my heart will always be right here in San Diego.

  1. HI, this is my first time visiting your blog. Through the ftf blog event i found out that you participated. I agree that San Diego is a great city. I have studied there for a year at San Diego University and loved the relaxed atmosphere. When I was there I visited the comic con, because we have nothing of that magnitude here in The Netherlands. Hope you have time to see my blog event post.

    1. Hi! It is very relaxed here, which is one of the reasons I love it. I’m definitely going to visit your blog, and thanks again for stopping by mine!

      xoxo

    1. Thanks Kristin! I’m going to take a look at all of the other participants in the FTF event today. This is an awesome event!

PS – I think I may just buy those JC’s, hee hee ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hello there! Never been to San Diego (or California for that matter) but it looks like a lovey place…that collage you made is really beautiful ๐Ÿ™‚
On a side note…why a re you all crazy with Jeffrey Cambell shoes??? I find them kind of chunky ๐Ÿ˜› (its a personal opinion…i know…just curious)

    1. Hi! Thank you so much. San Diego is very pretty, very much a beach town. California is a must visit state ๐Ÿ™‚

I love JC shoes! I know they do look a bit chunky, but I like “stand-out” shoes that are big and bold, and I get all of that with Jeffrey Campbell. I’m only 5 foot 4, so they also give me the height I want without it being uncomfortable. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks! I love Polyvore…so useful! JC shoes are fantastic. Can’t wait to buy some new pairs when I’m done with my remix ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I tried to find a good image of the Zoo when I was using Polyvore, but I didn’t find any that I liked. We have a membership there, and my son absolutely loves it there. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Oh, I love your collage! I’ve never been to San Diego but I always thought it seemed so cool. I love your insight into it and of course the Jeffrey Campbells! What an absolutely fabulous shoe. Totally appropriate for the event.

    Well done! (:

    1. Thank you so much! This was an awesome little blog event and putting the collage was fun. Aren’t the JC’s fantastic? ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m off to check the rest of the bloggers and their posts…including yours!

    1. KRISTY! This blog event was SO MUCH FUN. I’m still checking out all of the fab posts. The best part was that you really let it be up to each of us to make our own interpretation of the selected theme. Thanks for a fantastic event!

If you can, definitely attend a Comic Con before it leaves our fair city ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. California representin’! What a wonderful picture of your home town you’ve presented. I have only heard great things about SD, but I’ve never been. I am impressed that JC would name a shoe after your city…which I guess you down-to-earth, friendly folks will just take it in stride. Great post!

  5. San Diego! A great city, I remember going to cool music cafe, & everyone was so nice. Love that it’s so close to the bay area as well! a wink away! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks Madison! It is a lovely city with friendly people. Yup…the Bay Area is just a jaunt upward in the state. In fact, my friends and I are planning a girl’s get away a bit later in the year to SF for some wine tasting. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. San Diego is a place I have always wanted to visit – especially because of Comic Con! That seems like such a fun event. One day.

I have heard its a wonderful city to live in though, and I love the pictures you chose for your collage. Those JCs are gorgeous.

    1. Thanks! The Comic Con is an event that needs to be witnessed. It has evolved so much over the years. I remember one year, I went and eBay was just a little booth trying to get noticed. Big things can happen at the Comic Con!

      xoxo

  7. Loving everyone sharing their hoods!!! It’s so fun to cities I’ve never seen sadly San Diego being one of them. I love your polyvore for San Diego, really shows the city in your eyes.

    Thanks for sharing!!!

    1. Thank you! I’m also still checking out the links from all of the great blogs. San Diego is a great place, and I hope everyone gets to come down at some point ๐Ÿ™‚
