Step Into Comfort: Kushyfoot Review

IMG_3155 (2) (1280x1280)

I have been on the hunt for the perfect foot covers (AKA  shoe liners, peds, footies, “not socks”, etc) for some time now.  My issue with them is that they never stay put, or when they do, they show!  When I was approached to review Kushyfoot products, I hoped for the best and that my search for the perfect little foot cover finally would end.  I can say without a doubt, my search is over!

KushyFoot Collage 1As you can see, Kushyfoot’s Ultra Low Cut foot covers offer just enough coverage for your toes, but also have a “non slip” backing, ensuring that the foot cover stays put both ways.  As for the “cushy” part, there is padding right at the ball of the foot, providing all day comfort.  I wore these with sneakers and flats to work all day for two days, and I didn’t have to adjust them.  The price point is also affordable, and retails for approximately $3.99 a pair ($23.97 for 6 pairs).  This is well worth it for all of the cute flats coming out for fall!

Kushyfoot not only offers foot covers, but a variety of hosiery, including knee highs, tights, socks, and their Flats to Go® (pictured below).  They are not intended for long distance use, but definitely would be great for the end of one of those long evenings out, where you just want a bit of relief from your heels.  They fold and fit right into its little convenient purse pack to grab and go!

If you like what you see, you can find Kushyfoot products on their official site, and please also follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.  Thanks again Kushyfoot for these wonderful products, and for ending my search for the perfect foot cover!

90 Second Beauty: Alurent Anti-Aging+ Instant Erasure Serum Review

DSC04359 (2) (853x1280)

I was recently asked to review a beauty product called Alurent Anti-Aging + Instant Erasure Serum, created to reduce and tighten fine lines and wrinkles, which many women my age tend to worry about.  I just started to use the product, and I bravely took a before picture to show some of my skin imperfections prior to using the product.  I’ll report back in two weeks to show any differences that I feel and see, along with a discount for Any Second Now readers who would also like to purchase the product.  Come back in two weeks to see the results!

Portable Comfort: Check out Sand Cloud!

DSC04225 (2) (1280x1280)

I love hearing about new and upcoming designers and companies, especially when they are local.  Enter Sand Cloud Apparel, a company started by three friends – Brandon, Steven and Bruno – right here in sunny San Diego (Pacific Beach to be exact).  They created the Sand Cloud beach towel (pictured above), where the idea of a comfortable pillow combined with a towel was born out of sheer necessity: one of the founders got tired of using his backpack as a makeshift pillow while napping on the beach.

The Sand Cloud towel is the perfect combination of comfort and portability.  The towel itself 35″ x 60″, and is made of a 100% hand-woven Turkish cotton, which is completely eco-friendly.  The towel is lightweight and machine washable, which gets softer with every wash.  If you pull the pillow out, it can even be used as a sarong.  Finally, the company gives back by donating 10% of their net profits to benefit several foundations that support the preservation of Marine Life.

We took our Sand Cloud towel out to the park over the weekend, and after my niece and son enjoyed some time on it before heading out to play, my husband took full advantage by stealing a little shut-eye!

If you want to help get this great new product funded, you can do so by contributing to the Sand Cloud Kickstarter campaign (I’m also a backer).  Also connect with them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and keep in touch with how they’re doing.  Thank you to the folks at Sand Cloud for allowing us to enjoy this great new product, and hopefully they get their full backing!

DSC04227 (2) (1280x959)The Sand Cloud towel fit perfectly in my little tote bag, along with some toys and my hubby’s sandwich.  Love the portability!

DSC04231 (2) (1280x958)Dominic took a walk with my hubby, so Mei-Lin tried it out and really liked the built-in pillow.  She now wants one for herself!

DSC04235 (2) (960x1280)Once the kids went to play at the park, Deon decided it was time to test out the pillow after an afternoon snack.  The verdict?  He said he fell right asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.  Talk about comfy!

Safety in Words: KidsEmail.org Review

IMG_20140807_183803 (2) (1280x1280)

As a blogger, I’m asked to review clothing, accessories, shoes and events on a regular basis.  But with my son getting ready for school, I’ve started to look into other types of “products” to review.  I was approached to sign up for an account and review KidsEmail.org, which is a safe site for children to send and receive email from friends and family.  Since Dominic is just starting school this September and isn’t quite ready to tackle email yet, I asked my sister to have my niece, Mei-Lin (who is 8 years-old), try the site out and to give me their opinions (below).  For an annual fee ($38.95, which comes to $2.99 a month or a one month free trial also available), it looks like this is a very good site to monitor your school age child’s email usage as they take their first steps into the tech world.  Thank you Rholnna and Mei-Lin for trying out this great site & service!

What do you think about kidsemail.org?
Mei-Lin:  Think it is pretty creative because you get to email people.  I like the smiley faces. I like the backgrounds because you can look at the backgrounds. My favorite background the Wolf because they look like huskies.
IMG_20140807_183836 (2) (1280x1280)
Is the website easy to use or hard to use?
Mei-Lin:  It is easy to use because of the auto-correct.  You don’t have to type the whole word. It is easy because when you go into the inbox there is a little box that you can press and mark it as read unread or delete it.
Why do you like kidsemail.org?
Mei-Lin:  Because you get to talk to your family that lives far away, like in New York.
Rholnna (Mei-Lin’s Mom):  I think that the kidsemail.org seems like a safe place for my daughter to go to and use.  The parent control features a great because I can manage who she can contact. I also like the fact it emails me when she is sending out and receiving emails.  The whole site is very easy to navigate for both myself and my daughter.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Weezer: Dominic's First Concert!

IMG_2912 (2) (1280x1280)

This past weekend, we took Dominic to his very first concert:  Weezer at the Del Mar Racetrack!  It was a bit gloomy, raining on and off throughout the day.  We even considered not going at one point, thinking the reports of “thunder showers” would be correct and we didn’t want to subject our boy to the potential of catching a cold.  But we decided to brave the weather since we would be inside for a bit watching a few horse races prior to the concert.  Anyone who arrives prior to the last race can see the concert for free, and I have to thank my co-worker, Rene, for giving us passes for free stretch runs!  We had dinner first, then my hubby wanted to place his first bets on horses. There was three races left for the night, and Deon won the first two!  He had a blast and wants to return again this season.  After the last race, we all headed for the venue area and rocked the night away to Weezer.

The music lover in me has always wanted to see Weezer in concert.  When we found out about the show, I just thought how awesome it would be to have this be Dominic’s first concert, and he could say “When I was five, my parents took me to see Weezer!”  They performed all of the popular alternative radio station hits:  “Hash Pipe”, “Island in the Sun”, “Beverly Hills”, “Say it Ain’t So”, “Buddy Holly” and my favorite, “Undone – The Sweater Song”.  They even did a Blur cover, which was a pleasant surprise.  To commemorate the day, I bought us all concert shirts.  Dominic’s is still a bit too big, but it will allow him the chance to grow into it, giving him more chances to wear it.

Below, I’ve included the set list for the show, and I will upload the video of “Undone – The Sweater Song” soon (you’ll be able to see it underneath the set list) Dominic said he had fun, and it made for a wonderful day at the Del Mar Racetrack!

DSC04202 (2) (1280x960)

Not only was it Dominic’s first concert, but it was the first time for me and Deon to see Weezer as well.  They were fantastic!

Weezer Concert 2014 Collage 2

Dominic is a natural. He took a look around at the crowd and emulated the Weezer hand symbol (his daddy decided to follow suit).

Note:  I got Deon’s shirt in London two years ago, and boy did it get a lot of attention that night!  If you can’t tell, it says “If found please return to the pub.”  When Janice and I were in London back in 2012, I saw a guy wearing it as we were going up an escalator in a Tube station.  I then found it at a souvenier shop towards the end of our stay and had to get it for Deon.  He loves it!

Mark this one in the history books for Dominic’s very first concert!

Dried Flowers Nail Art

DSC04183 (2) (1280x960)

The folks at Born Pretty have sent me another lovely batch of fun nail products to play with, which my niece is just chomping at the bit to try as well.  More and more lately, I’ve been experimenting with nail art, so I chose to review the Ubique Dried Flower Nail Art Design because I wanted something a little different to try, and it came with 12 different colors of flowers for only $4.86!

With the base color of “Pepperminty” by Ciaté London, I chose a turquoise colored flower to pair with it to make the color pop.  Rather than use a whole spray of flowers on one nail, I cut up the flowers at the stem and placed them on the nail each ring finger.  I then covered it with a clear coat.  I really liked the effect, and now I want to experiment with more color and flower combinations in the near future.

I’ll definitely post pictures of the other nail products once I try them (the bottle of Sweet Color Nail Polish in Purple Glitter and the Artistic Music Note Nail Art Water Decals as seen in the above photo).  Also, be sure to follow me on Instagram because I pretty much post my nail artistry as soon as the finished product is fully completed and “photo ready”.  Have a wonderful weekend!
