Baby, It’s Cold Outside

I love the fact that my little man lets me play dress up with him.  Dominic’s only requirement is that he gets to wear his “Cars” shirts.  Other than that, it’s up to me on how to create the rest of the outfit around it.  I know the poses are practically the same, but I just couldn’t resist because of the look on his face in each shot.  Hope you had a great Christmas weekend!

Dominic’s Outfit – Disney “Cars” t-shirt; H&M striped shirt (layered); Guess jeans (handed down from cousin Riley); Kids Play jacket; Target cap; Urban scarf; Old Navy boots (and of course, one of many Lightning McQueen cars)

Merry Christmas!

I just wanted to wish you all out there a very Merry Christmas this weekend.  We will be celebrating again with my family locally in San Diego, with the festivities starting on Christmas Eve, ending with ringing in Christmas at midnight with Santa giving gifts to all of the kids, our beautiful boy included (Dominic actually smiled for his annual Santa picture this year).  I hope you have a wonderful, safe and blessed holiday!

Beau Coeur

Magazines to satisfy your appetite.

This is one of my favorite necklaces.  It’s by Dominique Cohen when she had a line at Target.  It says Beau Coeur, which is French for “good heart”.  I love that it has a very vintage and aged look to it, which makes it perfect for all of my fall to winter outfits.  This is also the first of the three new pairs of boots that I have bought since the Thanksgiving weekend.  I have worn these boots everyday since I bought them, creating outfits just so I can wear them again.

Outfit – INC sweater; Cotton On shirt; Guess jeans and boots ($99 at the Guess store!); Rebecca Minkoff 5 Zip purse; Mango sunnies; Dominique Cohen for Target necklace; Juicy Couture and Wendy Brandes rings; Michael Kors watch

More Holiday Gift Ideas: LeapPad vs InnoTab

My son Dominic loves our iPhones and my sister’s iPad.  In fact, he thought for awhile that any screen in the house was a touch pad (he doesn’t anymore).  To remedy this, we decided to get him a LeapPad Explorer.  After seeing commercials and ads for this tablet for months, my husband and I thought that this would be a great present for Dominic for Christmas.

Little did I know that the LeapPad was the hot toy this holiday season!  I was talking to one of my co-workers last week, and she found her son’s LeapPad at a local Fry’s and barely left with one.   We searched all the major chains, both in the actual store and online, and they are sold out everywhere.  My mother-in-law has searched in Las Vegas and even has a friend searching in Texas for this in-demand electronic device.

While in Target with my sister, discussing the unfortunate unavailability of the LeapPad, a nice gentleman said that the Vtech electronic toys are just as good as the LeapFrog toys.  This prompted me to do a little research and I found the Vtech InnoTab.  The price point is already appealing because the basic LeapPad is priced at  $99 where the InnoTab is right around $66.  Even with the added games and gadgets, the InnoTab was still less expensive than the bundles we have seen being offered for LeapPad.

I then found this detailed comparison between the InnoTab and LeapPad here, which gave me more insight as to what Dominic really loves about the iPhone and iPad.  At the tender age of almost three, Dominic doesn’t take too many pictures or videos with our iPhones, but because he loves music, he likes using the iPod feature.  He also loves games and is always watching his favorite “Cars” movies.  Both tablets can run games and are both eReaders, which is what I think Dominic would enjoy.  But while the LeapPad does have a digital and video camera, an SD card can be added to the InnoTab so it then becomes a portable DVD and MP3 player.  This is what convinced me to lean towards the InnoTab.

If you’re grappling between the two devices, I suggest watching what your child already does with your current devices and make your decision.   Happy shopping!

Strike a Pose!

I first heard about this App from Kirsty Elena on Full Time Fabulous, but I recently downloaded it to enter a contest that I read about on Minkette (click here for the post).   It’s called Pose and reminds of Instagram, but it really lends itself to those of us who are fashion bloggers.  What I like is that it allows me to share pictures from my latest outfit posts, take previews of upcoming outfits, and basically quick snaps of outfits that I wear on a daily basis.  I can also tag all of the brands and designers of who I’m wearing that day, then automatically post them to Twitter and Facebook (and Tumblr if you have it)!

One of my poses was featured!

For the Rebecca Minkoff contest, just download the Pose App on your Smartphone, snap your favorite outfit pictures and add #OOTD (outfit of the day) and #Minkette for a chance to win an awesome prize: a beautiful Ostrich Cupid Satchel.  I’m always amenable to adding more RM purses to my collection, so you’ll definitely be seeing more and more poses on Pose!

As a nice surprise, one of the “posers” sent me a quick message to tell me that one of my poses was on Rebecca Minkoff’s Facebook page, sporting what else?  My most recent outfit post with one of my MAC purses of course!  Have a great weekend!

Tulle & Tucker

When I took these pictures, I was still on the hunt for boots for the fall and winter, which would allow me to wear just about all of the dresses I’ve already worn with new boots and also lots of layers.  As an example, I think this lighter dress and jacket together make for a great fall outfit because of the color combination.

Although I love these boots from Aldo that I purchased years ago, I wanted a more updated look.  I found some great boots over the Thanksgiving holiday from Guess, Vince Camuto and Axxiom.  I’ll be sure to post outfit pictures and share details on my great Black Friday deals!

Outfit – Tulle coat; Tucker for Target dress; Rebecca Minkoff MAC purse; Aldo boots; Lucky Brand glasses

Contrary to popular belief, I do not shop that often.  Well, I actually do, but I definitely do not spend as much money on my favorites as people think that I do.  My latest acquisitions have been under the $100 mark, including the most recent pairs of boots that I bought.  Here are items from my favorite brands and sites, with choices for right around $100.  I think these would make great gifts for your favorite fashionista this holiday, and it won’t hurt your pocket!

Foodie Fever: A Proper Shandy

The Kickass Shandy – a version by Crown & Anchor in Las Vegas

My drink of choice at a British pub is a Shandy.  I was introduced to this drink at the Princess Pub & Grille in Little Italy here in San Diego, and I have loved them ever since.  My husband doesn’t like it because he said it’s basically a beer spritzer.  But if you’re like me and can usually only handle a drink or two the entire evening, then you may enjoy a proper Shandy.  It’s basically half beer, and half citrus drink, but you can play with the portions as you wish to suit your taste.  The first time I had it was with Sprite, but I love the version with orange juice at Crown & Anchor (sans Red Bull).  Most say it’s a great summertime drink, but I think it’s great anytime.  Cheers and have a great weekend!

A Bit of Berry

I’m in love with black and navy together, but I decided to brighten it up with my beautiful fuchsia colored Mini MAC.  My husband took these pictures, and although the last shot is blurry, I like movement of it and the fact that the berry color really stands out.

Outfit – H&M cardigan, striped top & stretch mini; Target tights; Forever 21 jacket; Breckelle’s boots (ModCloth); Mini MAC c/o Rebecca Minkoff; Wendy Brandes ring

Mei-Lin’s Build-A-Bear Birthday Bash

Saturday was my niece, Mei-Lin’s 6th birthday.  She spent her actual birthday at a daytime concert hosted by her favorite group, Big Time Rush, then ended it with dinner with her mommy and daddy.  But on Sunday, she celebrated at Build-A-Bear, partying it up with just a few classmates, friends and family.  We then it ended with an early dinner at my house.  I was the official photographer for the day at Build-A-Bear, so here are some photos of the crazy fun.  If you haven’t guessed already, Mei-Lin’s outfit was completely styled by yours truly.  Hope you also had a great weekend!

Mei-Lin’s outfit – Harajuku Mini top & skirt; Xhilaration hat, tights & shoes (all from Target)
