Weekend in Pictures: Deep Fried Paradise (aka The San Diego County Fair)

Happy 4th of July!  We are currently in Las Vegas, about to celebrate.  But since I won’t have actual pictures of the celebration until later, I thought I’d post what we did the last weekend.  Every year we try to make it out to The San Diego County Fair, which will forever be affectionately known to our family as The Del Mar Fair.  I’ve been going since I was a little girl with my sister, mom and dad.  Now that my sister and I have our own family, we’re continuing the tradition with our own families.

Each year, the food gets more and more outlandish.  I’m not sure what they’re going to deep fry next, but I’m pretty sure we’ll be eating it.  I think most of the pictures will speak for themselves.  Hope you have a great 4th!

  2. oh, were you eating deep fried avocados in the picture? I thought it looked like frog legs!

  3. Hi Cy! Looks like ya’ll had fun at The Del Mar Fair! Yes, I still call it by it’s original name. I went on Saturday the 2nd and it was more of a day to be enjoyed with the lil ones this year. I’ve always gone with friends in the past and rode all the big rides until I couldn’t walk straight anymore. This year was different for me. This was the first year I was able to bring Ronia along (my 4 year old daughter). She had a blast with my girlfriend’s 6 year old son. Even I played and rode kiddie rides at the Midway. I wanted to try all the deep fried goodness you talked about, but I couldn’t do it. The smell of the oil was enough for me so I just finished Ronia’s leftovers – an all beef hot dog. I didn’t try anything crazy, but maybe next year. Thanks for sharing your fun photos!

    1. Hi Noel! It definitely does take an iron stomach to eat all those fried delights. I know I’ll never really eat those things until the next fair, so I tell myself it’s ok, lol!

Glad you took Ronia. Isn’t it different from a kids point of view? Mei and Dominic had fun, but my poor baby fell asleep before we could get him to the kiddie rides. There’s next year!

      xoxo
