Wedged In

Wendy Brandes recently did a “casting call” for bloggers who own wedged sneakers (post here).  I sent her a couple of shots of just my Marc Jacobs wedged espadrille heeled sneakers, but I know she wanted a head-to-toe shot (hopefully she was able to use them).  I love these shoes so much because the heels are just high enough to be comfortable.  Believe it or not, they are show stoppers and I get asked about them every time I wear them.  They are a couple of years old, so I’m not sure if you can get these anywhere (I bought them off of eBay).

Below are a couple of detail shots of my awesome black leather MAC with gunmetal hardware (and a bright blue zipper) and a close up of my shoes from a previous post.

Note:  I recently found a pair of wedged sneaks on sale at Urban Outfitters by Ash (AND they are studded).  These are what I’m going to wear for most of my trip to Europe, and if they are comfy enough, I’m wearing them to the Rewind Festival.  Check them out below!

Inner Circle

I’ve got a few circle scarves, including this cute green one.  It was a last-minute purchase during a recent mini-shopping spree, but I’m glad that I bought it.  It added a subtle punch of color to this black & white outfit.  I really am trying to embrace more color, so I think accessories are a great place to start.

Deep & Wide & Tall

I’ve worn these wide legged jeans once before (here).  I have been on the search for jeans that are just as wide with the same length because I can wear them with shoes of more extreme height.  The search has not been too fruitful, but I am optimistic.  Although I like flare or boot-cut jeans, the fact that the width of these jeans starts at the top of my thigh rather than from just above my knee makes them comfortable.  I’m sure I’ve posted about my search before, so I guess I’m giving an update that it continues.

Modern Vintage

It’s been awhile since I took pictures in my usual picture spot because there was a car parked in front of it.  Also, I’ve been feeling lazy lately.  I have had a few picture worthy outfits, just not enough energy to make it happen.  So today, I thought I would capture pictures of the other kimono jacket I bought recently.  I got this lovely number at Cotton On.  I love it because of the sheer material and the way it drapes in the back.  I wore with a plain black tank top, jeans, and simple shoes, but dressed it up with my cameo pendant/pin.  I took a close up by request of the beautiful Christine of the blog Un-Stitched.  She asked that I take a close up of some of some of my jewelry, and I thought it was fitting to take one of my vintage cameo, since she is so great at finding great buys and vintage items, creating sophisticated and feminine outfits.

Red Zone

As I type this post, owners and players of the National Football League have decided to have a season after all!  In honor of the fun and folly of American football, I am wearing red.  For those who are not familiar with the game, the “Red Zone” is the area close to the end zone where a score can be made within 20 yards.  The score can be either by touchdown (6 points) with a “PAT” (1 point after touchdown), or it can be a field goal (3 points).

Here’s to hoping my San Diego Chargers will make it into the Red Zone as often as possible.  Their first pre-season game is against the Seattle Seahawks on August 11.  Cheers to the upcoming 2011 NFL season!

Wide Angle

There are a couple of wide elements to this outfit.  The sweater is quite boxy and is shorter in the front and longer in the back, which is very forgiving (it’s also the sweater I wore when I met Alan Wilder).  The pants are an extreme palazzo style that I picked up at Miss Selfridge in London a few years ago.  I always have to wear them with flats because they just barely touch the ground when I’m not wearing any shoes.  It’s a completely easy outfit with a lot of flow to it, although not too much color.  Blacks, greys and silvers are my staples, as is my new asterisk ring.

Go With the Flow

The weather makes me want to wear things that are less body conscious.  Wearing wide-legged or palazzo pants and flowing sheer shirts are the way I incorporate this fluidity in my wardrobe.  I also have been really loving capes, mostly because of the large sleeves that allow room for kimono-style shirts and dresses.   This one is nice because it’s almost like a little jacket rather than a large poncho.  I think this outfit is quite wonderfully breezy, making it quite cool for this fantastic warm day.  I also like the stripes in the lining against the polka-dots!

Remix Update: Outfits 5 & 6

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Not a whole lot of green in this post, except for maybe the ivy next to me and a little bit of the leaves of my dress.

I broke down and bought the rose-gold watch that I have been eyeing for the past 2 weeks now. One of my friends just bought a rose-gold Michael Kors watch recently and I secretly lusted after it from afar. It has a vintage vibe to it, which reminds me of my father’s watches. This beautiful rose-gold watch with a dark pearlized face is also by Michael Kors. I promise that this watch is the last purchase until after Easter. The watch is so pretty up close, and this picture doesn’t do it justice.

From the “30 for 30” rules, outfits can be worn over a period of any 30 days. I really do intend to only remix during the days of Lent. If I don’t go anywhere that requires the use of an outfit from the remix, then I will extend the days so that the outfits reach 40. Since I didn’t go anywhere on Sunday, I will go over by 1 day (so far). So here are outfits 5 and 6, which was this past Monday and Tuesday. Isn’t this Kinder Aggugini dress adorable? The whole line at Macy’s is great, and I hope that it’s still around after Easter.

I have 3 skirts to choose from, again of varying lengths. I wanted to make this outfit a little on the easy and casual side for my new Jeffrey Campbell “Kelley” oxfords. I love the cut-out effect because while they are definitely brogues, they feel like sandals. I’m glad that I could get 2 styles for the price of one, which opens up my remixing even more. Speaking of remixing, I seem to have already worked this Cotton On cardigan into 3 outfits already. Plus, I’ve used the American Apparel leather pouch with every outfit so far. I guess I’ve discovered couple of a staples!

In The Navy

I’ve fallen in love with my new pair of navy blue suede Naughty Monkey boots that I bought recently on Zappos.com (seen here). It’s no surprise that I’ve worn them almost everyday since I bought them and even wore them shopping all day two Saturdays ago. The mid-heel makes them comfortable for walking and perfect for any outfit. I wore them with jeans and leggings for a few days, then decided to try them with my pretty little bird printed dress (last seen here). The navy blue color just makes them pop against anything I’ve worn, especially black.

Twilight Sprinkles

Having a tripod just gives me such freedom, not only for myself but for my husband. He has been so patient with me and all the pictures I want to take. I would still love to have him help me with location shots, but for these outfits that I wear on a daily basis, I’ll just turn to my tripod. I’m still working out camera positioning and poses, so bear with me as I get the hang of it.

I took these pictures just as it started to sprinkle. I wasn’t going to use my umbrella, but I almost had no choice with the wet weather we’ve been having lately. I am wearing my “Walk the Walk” boots again. I’m having so much fun wearing them and wanted to show how versatile they are. They really do work with any outfit, and any kind of weather.
