Baby, It’s Cold Outside

I love the fact that my little man lets me play dress up with him.  Dominic’s only requirement is that he gets to wear his “Cars” shirts.  Other than that, it’s up to me on how to create the rest of the outfit around it.  I know the poses are practically the same, but I just couldn’t resist because of the look on his face in each shot.  Hope you had a great Christmas weekend!

Dominic’s Outfit – Disney “Cars” t-shirt; H&M striped shirt (layered); Guess jeans (handed down from cousin Riley); Kids Play jacket; Target cap; Urban scarf; Old Navy boots (and of course, one of many Lightning McQueen cars)

A Bit of Berry

I’m in love with black and navy together, but I decided to brighten it up with my beautiful fuchsia colored Mini MAC.  My husband took these pictures, and although the last shot is blurry, I like movement of it and the fact that the berry color really stands out.

Outfit – H&M cardigan, striped top & stretch mini; Target tights; Forever 21 jacket; Breckelle’s boots (ModCloth); Mini MAC c/o Rebecca Minkoff; Wendy Brandes ring

Room For Squares

Magazines for your kids to learn about the world.

I had planned on wearing this outfit on Plaidurday.  But after a couple of minor catastrophes at work (including a sink-hole right outside our office), the upper management deemed it a jeans day the following day.  So I saved my tartan terrific dress for a regular business casual day.  Oh, and I love these boots.  They make any outfit edgy.

Outfit – Candies dress; Mossimo sheer mock turtleneck; H&M cardigan; Breckelle’s boots (ModCloth); Target tights; Coach sunnies; Wendy Brandes ring; Rebecca Minkoff pouch

Blocked in Blue

I usually take my outfit pictures right when I get home from work.  There are days where my outfits last the day, but there are some days where I wish I could quickly through some steam.  This was basically the only shot where my clothes didn’t look so wrinkled.  I really wanted to capture the shoes that I bought a few weeks ago in Las Vegas and the pretty blouse I bought to bring out the blue in them.  I only realized later that the grey of my purse really tied everything together, bringing out the true color blocking of the shoes.

Stars & Stripes

I am trying very hard to embrace mixology through pattern mixing.  Sometimes I succeed, sometimes it’s a bit of a mess.  But after a couple of nice pointers from Kimi’s awesome post on her blog All The Fuss called “Power Clashing: I Do it Because I Can“, I thought I would try again.  I kept my patterns simple and in the same color family, as well as the accessories.

Below is my newest eBay acquisition.  I have been looking for my size in these very cute Poetic License shoe boots for a long time, and finally found them on eBay.  Although they are all black, there is subtle scallop detailing that make them beyond adorable.  The material is stretchy which makes them incredibly comfy for the height.  Most of all, they’re just so pretty!

Blues Clues*

*And a very cool ring!

It’s always hard to make slouchy look chic, but I think the way to do it is to pair it with something sleek & simple.  I think skinny jeans and strappy heels offset the oversized shirt and slouchy purse, which keeps it from looking sloppy.  I also kept the colors in the same family of blue, making the outfit look cohesive.

My favorite parts of this casual outfit are the little details, like the hearts on my shoes or the fantastic ring that I bought recently from Wendy Brandes Jewelry (you can purchase it by clicking here).  It’s simple, but really unusual because it’s an unexpected shape.  The bonus picture below is of Dominic getting into my TwitPic that I sent to Wendy to show her how the ring looked on me.  I think he’s due for more outfit pictures since he keeps wandering into mine!

Outfit – Naked Zebra shirt by ModCloth (here’s another shirt I like that’s similar); H&M jeans; Alexander McQueen shoes; Foley + Corinna Moto Hobo bag; Wendy Brandes Asterisk ring

Go With the Flow

The weather makes me want to wear things that are less body conscious.  Wearing wide-legged or palazzo pants and flowing sheer shirts are the way I incorporate this fluidity in my wardrobe.  I also have been really loving capes, mostly because of the large sleeves that allow room for kimono-style shirts and dresses.   This one is nice because it’s almost like a little jacket rather than a large poncho.  I think this outfit is quite wonderfully breezy, making it quite cool for this fantastic warm day.  I also like the stripes in the lining against the polka-dots!

Outfit – H&M cape jacket & pants; Cotton On blouse; Jeffrey Campbell shoes; Michael Kors watch; Juicy Couture ring; Coach sunglasses

A Little Genie, Sans Bottle

I found these harem pants at H&M.  I already own a few pairs, and although my husband believes that they are true “man-repellers”, I just had to snap these up because of the pretty pattern in a light and breezy color palette and fabric.  This great jacket is from H&M’s “Conscious Collection” and goes remarkably well with these pants (and my watch).  I can’t believe that I haven’t worn these fantastic Tory Burch “Jakey” heels in a pictorial yet (I first posted about them here).  I love the height and the gladiator style.  I’ll also never underestimate the versatility of the plain white tee.  I’m ready for summer, are you?

Remix Update: Outfits 17 – 20

I put together pictures of outfits that had the same basic element worn different ways by changing up the accessories and layering pieces. I think this really displays the concept of remixing, since I never put together an index of wardrobe pieces (sorry folks, no time and no Photoshop).

The first pair of pictures are of a dress from Caro London. I bought my first Caro London dress from Plumo.com, then went directly to the official site for this dress. I love this dress because it has a very pretty pattern with lots of girly frills.

Outfit (below): Previously remixed – Motivi sweater; Aldo shoes; Caro London dress; Coach sunglasses (both outfits)

The second pair of pictures are of the Kinder Aggugini dress. It’s so easy to wear because the fabric is light and does not wrinkle at all. I wore it last week with a simple cardigan and awesome leather peep-toe shoe boots by MKRT that I bought from DSW right before Lent. I then switched it up a bit this week and added some texture by wearing it with my H&M velvet blazer and suede boots.

Totally Capable

I used to have a couple ponchos, but I never bought a cape because I just couldn’t find one that I really liked. Now I have this fantastic sweater cape and I’m about to make this a regular part of my wardrobe. I love the fact that it’s light enough for San Diego weather, but it keeps me warm like a blanket. In a way, it’s like a very stylish Snuggie and was truly a steal at $36. It was perfect for Dominic’s chilly early morning doctor’s appointment and took me into the semi-warm afternoon.

Outfit: ASOS military knitted cape; H&M skinny jeans; Lucky brand striped top; Steve Madden Luxe boots; Vintage Gucci clutch; Burberry sunglasses
