Review: Extreme Coarse Micro-Mineral Rollers for the Emjoi Micro-Pedi

IMG_6720

Last year, I reviewed the Emjoi Micro-Pedi as I got my feet ready for summer sandals and strappy heels (post here).  Recently, I received an awesome add-on accessory: Extreme Coarse Micro-Mineral Rollers!  These rollers are amazing at smoothing out the roughest part of my feet, which are my heels and calluses that develop at the balls of my feet.  After working on those parts of my feet, I then switched to the regular rollers to completely smooth out my feet all over.  With the Micro-Pedi, I’ve got all I need to give myself a complete pedicure at home!

I also asked my sister to give me her thoughts on the Micro-Pedi, because I’ve been talking it up so much that she wanted to try it herself.  But to really test it out, she had her husband try it, and they’re so glad they did!

As I read the instructions on how to use the Micro-Pedi, I asked my husband if I can try it on him, since his feet are a little rougher than mine.  I told him that I had to wash and dry his feet first. He was willing and ready to! As I started using the Micro-Pedi on his feet it was very simple and easy to maneuver around.  When I finished with both of his feet, I definitely felt the smoothness of his skin. He even said, “Very smooth!”.  Once we were done, I read on how to clean the Micro-Pedi.  It is very easy to take the roller out with one push of a button, then cleaning it with the brush. Finally placing it back in was also easy and simple.  Overall the Micro-Pedi by Emjoi is a very simple little machine to use for both men and women.

How I Got My Feet Summer Ready With The Emjoi Micro-Pedi!

emjoi in package

I love when a product review falls in line with something I’ve been wanting to try!  As I’ve gotten older, I find that the heels of my feet tend to get dry and become calloused more quickly than when I was younger.  I used to get pedicures at least twice a month, but our family weekends have been so busy lately and I know Dominic would rather watch a movie or go do something other than wait for mama at a nail salon.  I have been giving myself pedicures at home in the evening, but in order to continue to get that just-from-the-salon feel for my feet, I really needed something between the “egg-shaped” foot file I already had and a pricey electronic one.  So of course I was delighted when I received the opportunity to review the Emjoi Micro-Pedi!

The Emjoi Micro-Pedi is battery operated (takes two AA batteries).  I’m only showing my use of it on one side of my foot for this review because it truly has been awhile since I’ve taken care of my feet properly, so they are not in the best condition to photograph.  But it definitely does what it’s supposed to do and because the rollers spin 360 degrees, it gets to all the places I just couldn’t get to with my manual foot file, especially the callous on the balls of my feet.  Since it’s so easy to use and take care of (it comes with a little cleaning brush), I can use it often and get my feet back to where I want them to be, especially with sandal season coming up this summer!

Cave Tools Kabobs Skewer Set Review: Perfect Party Food!

Cave Tools Collage

New Year’s Eve is upon us, which means parties galore!  My husband, Deon, is quite the BBQ connoisseur and is known to create some fabulous meals on his Traeger Grill for several parties here right at home, especially during football season.  Recently, Deon made amazing kabobs with the Cave Tools Stainless Steel Kabob Skewers Set.  He really liked the overall design, especially how the skewers set on the rack (they can be set in eight different positions).  He also thought the “built-in-food-slider” was the most convenient part of the skewers, in addition to how easy they were to clean.  Above all, the kabobs were evenly cooked and didn’t stick to the grill because the rack sits right atop it.  Overall:  These are Deon approved!   So if you’re looking for a dish that will be a hit for your next party and have a great grill like we do (we have the Traeger Junior Elite Grill), grab this great skewer set from Cave Tools (check out below how fantastic his kabobs turned out).  Cheers and see you in the New Year!

Minted: Unique (and Adorable) Journals & Planners!

A Little Paris NotebookI really love a great journal or planner.  Before I was blogging, I was definitely writing in journals (see my post about it here), so it’s no wonder that anytime I’m in a bookstore, stationery shop, or even a large chain retail store like Target, I’ll usually stop by the paper goods section to see if there’s anything cute.

Imagine my excitement when I was introduced to Minted, an online stationery store that is also a design marketplace.  They source fantastic creative content from a global community of independent artists and sell the best designs on paper goods, art and home decor.  For instance, check out that lovely journal in the picture above called “A Little Paris” by artist Sharon Rowan.  When you select your item, you can click on the link to get to know the artist, as well as see other items they have designed for Minted.

Planner Journal Options for MintedWhat I like the best about their journals and planners are the options provided.  Even though I’ve selected a weekly planner, I can also order a matching journal, which all can be personalized through color selection and by adding your name or even uploading your personal pictures (depending on the type of cover selected)! Additionally, the options change, depending on what kind of product you want.  I love stickers, so it’s great that once you choose the planner option, the stickers then become available.

There are so many products to choose from, including personalized name labels that are waterproof, dishwasher safe and non-toxic, which is perfect for when Dominic goes to school.  Since school starts in about a month for him, I’m definitely going to have a great time browsing through the site and seeing all the great products for the both of us at Minted!

Follow Up on Allurent's 90 Second Beauty

DSC04693 (2) (1280x1280)From my previous post about Alurent (here), I reviewed their product, the Alurent Anti-Aging + Instant Erasure Serum, over the course of 2-3 weeks, just to see if I could see any improvement in my skin over time, especially since I’m now 44 and have really started to notice fine lines, wrinkles and sagging around my face.  Once I applied Alurent and allowed the product around 2-3 minutes to sit on my skin, the effect was immediate and even better underneath my make-up.

I used the product directly underneath my eyes where I felt there was the most “sag”.  I then used it at the corners of my eyes, on my forehead, and at the corners of my mouth where I felt there were more wrinkles.  When used underneath my regular makeup routine, I found my skin to be more taught and refreshed.  The result is a more youthful, yet natural look, which only improved with use over time these last few weeks.

90 Second Beauty: Alurent Anti-Aging+ Instant Erasure Serum Review

I was recently asked to review a beauty product called Alurent Anti-Aging + Instant Erasure Serum, created to reduce and tighten fine lines and wrinkles, which many women my age tend to worry about.  I just started to use the product, and I bravely took a before picture to show some of my skin imperfections prior to using the product.  I’ll report back in two weeks to show any differences that I feel and see, along with a discount for Any Second Now readers who would also like to purchase the product.  Come back in two weeks to see the results!

Safety in Words: KidsEmail.org Review

IMG_20140807_183803 (2) (1280x1280)

As a blogger, I’m asked to review clothing, accessories, shoes and events on a regular basis.  But with my son getting ready for school, I’ve started to look into other types of “products” to review.  I was approached to sign up for an account and review KidsEmail.org, which is a safe site for children to send and receive email from friends and family.  Since Dominic is just starting school this September and isn’t quite ready to tackle email yet, I asked my sister to have my niece, Mei-Lin (who is 8 years-old), try the site out and to give me their opinions (below).  For an annual fee ($38.95, which comes to $2.99 a month or a one month free trial also available), it looks like this is a very good site to monitor your school age child’s email usage as they take their first steps into the tech world.  Thank you Rholnna and Mei-Lin for trying out this great site & service!

What do you think about kidsemail.org?
Mei-Lin:  Think it is pretty creative because you get to email people.  I like the smiley faces. I like the backgrounds because you can look at the backgrounds. My favorite background the Wolf because they look like huskies.

Is the website easy to use or hard to use?
Mei-Lin:  It is easy to use because of the auto-correct.  You don’t have to type the whole word. It is easy because when you go into the inbox there is a little box that you can press and mark it as read unread or delete it.
Why do you like kidsemail.org?
Mei-Lin:  Because you get to talk to your family that lives far away, like in New York.
Rholnna (Mei-Lin’s Mom):  I think that the kidsemail.org seems like a safe place for my daughter to go to and use.  The parent control features a great because I can manage who she can contact. I also like the fact it emails me when she is sending out and receiving emails.  The whole site is very easy to navigate for both myself and my daughter.
