Shining for me, Majestically

DSC03591 (2) (600x800)

There’s a saying I saw somewhere that somewhat goes “When a woman says she can’t decide what to wear, she really means she can’t decide who to be that day.”  Well, this past weekend, I decided to be everything.  I wore this while running errands with my husband and son, and I completely felt like this was a combination of dressy, yet casual and edgy.  Wearing flats with a plain white t-shirt and long skirt felt comfortable, so I put on a classic black cardigan with shiny silver accessories to bring a dressier edge.

Weekend in Pictures: Bellus Academy Presents Come2gether

cometogether

Last Saturday, I was invited to attend an exciting and inspirational charity event presented by Bellus Academy (where I met up with quite a few San Diego Style Bloggers).  Come2gether was held at the Moniker Warehouse in Downtown San Diego and benefitted Beauty Changes Lives“a non-profit initiative designed to raise awareness of how careers in the hair, beauty and wellness industry transform lives both personally and professionally.”  It started off with the media portion, where bloggers, photographers and journalists could interview, photograph and visit with the artists who would be presenting that evening.  Bellus Academy president, Lynelle Lynch, and Cosmetology Educator, Manny SanMartin, chatted with us briefly about their career paths and the importance of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation.  The keynote speaker was Stacey Broughton, a former Senior Art Director for the Vidal Sassoon Academy.  Special guests that night included Mike Varela, Nina Kovner, D.J. Muldoon, Douglas McCoy, Nicole Brown, Omar Antonio, Carrera Bailey and Diego Raviglione.  The main portion of this fun event included dynamic visual styling presentations set to music.  Thank you Christina of Alternative Strategies for inviting me to this fantastic event!

These pictures were taken last November in Las Vegas outside of the famous Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino, at the Fremont Street Experience.  Believe it or not, although my husband was born and raised in Las Vegas, this was the first time he had ever been to the Fremont Street Experience (more pictures to come).  We were able to snap some pictures of my comfy yet pulled together outfit, amidst all of the craziness of the evening.  I’ve always wanted a simple red coat, and I was so excited to have the opportunity to own this one, courtesy of J.Jill from their grand opening at Fashion Valley (post here).

A Sea of Chanel: Designer Vault’s Vintage Designer Trunk Show

A couple of Saturdays ago, I was invited to attend a VIP viewing of Designer Vault’s Vintage Designer Trunk Show, prior to opening to the public (Designer Vault is a luxury consignment e-boutique).  The event took place at The Headquarters at Seaport District (right next to Seaport Village on the waterfront in Downtown San Diego), in a creative meeting space called preFAB.  I have never been surrounded by so much Chanel in my entire life, except for maybe visiting the Chanel store at the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas.  Celebrity stylists Daniel Musto and local stylist Dean Hall (of Hall & Saks) were on hand to help create the perfect look for patrons, and a percentage of the sales went towards Promises2Kids.  I had a great time window shopping all of the beautiful designer treasures, as well as hanging out with stylists, fashionistas and fellow San Diego Style Bloggers.  One of the highlights of the day was finally meeting Cindy Matalucci of The Pulse, her “interview style” marketing company.  Thank you to Andrea Landis with Designer Vault for the invite!  There are quite a few pictures to get through, but it is SO worth it because Chanel is so lovely to behold.  Enjoy!

Although there were many other designers to choose from to fit your haute couture needs, my senses were working overtime because of all of the Chanel.  The following pictures are of my favorite pieces.

Shall We Shop at Madewell? Bien Sûr!

IMG_0554 (2) (936x1280)

IMG_0553 (2) (1280x1280)

Last Thursday, a few San Diego Style Bloggers were invited to preview Madewell’s new collection at their University Town Center location in La Jolla.  In addition to shopping, we were treated to sweet treats and drinks while we put together holiday looks.  I arrived right at 6pm, which allowed me to take a few pictures before meeting up with some of my fellow #SDStyleBloggers.  I shopped just a little, grabbing some good deals on a little bit of bling.  After the holiday, I’ll be sure to indulge a bit more, and that Bien Sûr sweater is at the top of my list.  Thanks to Joseph and Lauren at Madewell UTC for a wonderful night!

The Ideal Blogging Community: San Diego Style Bloggers

Mingle and Jingle Shimmer event (2)

I can’t say enough about what a wonderful community we have in the San Diego Style Bloggers.  Not only do we see each other at events, but we stay connected with each other through social media and even in our personal lives.  Because of these new friendships, we’ve now started to attend events to support our fellow local fashion and style bloggers, as I did right after my day at Flower Hill Promenade.  I took my sister to Shimmer at Plaza Bonita Mall to get her Christmas present, specifically in support of the Mingle & Jingle Holiday Shopping Event hosted by Alessandra of Alessandra Gonzalez and Tuyaymya of White Tee Black Dress.  Also in show of support was Laura of Laura Neuzeth.  If you are a San Diego style/fashion/lifestyle blogger, or know someone who is, please be sure to join the San Diego Style Bloggers network/community!

(Black) Friday, I’m in Love

IMG_0418 (2) (1280x1280)

DSC03240 (2) (1280x960)

I have been waiting to wear this lovely sweater coat I purchased on Etsy earlier this year, and Black Friday was the perfect day to wear it since the weather was sunny but very brisk.  These pictures were taken right after our excursion, and my sole acquisition of the day was that beautiful leather and suede purse from Topshop.  Being married to someone born and raised in Las Vegas allows me to see so many things outside of The Strip.  This is Charlie Frias Park (located on Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard), which is en route to The Strip, as is seen in the background of the pictures below.  Although we did visit The Strip to go Black Friday shopping at Fashion Show Mall, and to visit my cousin for her husband’s birthday, we primarily stay away from The Strip.  Las Vegas is quite lovely as a city, and I want my pictures on our frequent trips there to showcase what else Sin City has to offer.  My next outfit post and photos of Las Vegas will feature places even my husband never experienced, and it was fun for the entire family!

Topshop x Nordstrom Launches at Fashion Valley

Topshop X Nordies Collage 5

Last Saturday, I attended the launch of Topshop x Nordstrom at the Fashion Valley Mall.  As you can imagine, I was beyond excited when I learned that this fantastic collaboration would be right in my hometown because I have been a longtime fan of Topshop.   I’ve been to two locations in London, the one in New York and the one in Las Vegas, and I plan to go to the Los Angeles location on my next trip there.  The event was hosted by the uber-stylish Jennifer Grace of the blog, The Native FoxSan Diego Style Bloggers were also in attendance:  Eva of It’s A Fashion Fairy Tale, designer Lucia Mouet of Around Lucia, and stylist Maria of Savvynista.  I snapped quite a few pictures, and I even bought a new skirt…to start!  My best friend Janice couldn’t attend the event with me, but we vowed to shop there together to relive our days in London.  If you can’t make it out to one of the larger stores, make sure you head out to Topshop x Nordstrom at Fashion Valley.  Cheers!

Fashion Week San Diego: The Trunk Show

DSC03011 (2) (1280x960)

Here is the final post of my Fashion Week San Diego experience, the trunk show.  I really had a great time because it was a very relaxed vibe, and we got to meet many of the designers.  They announced the winning designers of #FWSD, and we got to partake in the celebration with several champagne toasts.  I also met up with a few of my blogger buddies at the show, and not only left with goodies courtesy of the #FWSD VIP gift bag, but I also made a purchase from Dexter Simmons, who will appear in the reality show Styled to Rock later this week.  I took pictures galore, but here are the highlights.  Hope you had a great weekend!
