Pin, buttons, badges: I’ve worn them all! Now, after all these years of wearing them, I find myself heavily embedded in everything having to do with “Pin Culture”. I’ll do a separate post about my love for the soft-enamel pin, but let me introduce you to a small part of my growing collection, as showcased on this awesome denim jacket from GOAT Romasco, an online fashion boutique here in San Diego. I have several denim jackets, but this one is longer and slightly over-sized, which makes it almost like a coat. I wore it over a nice comfy sweater and my new favorite jeans by Pilcro at Anthropologie.
I wasn’t lying when I said that the eighties run deep in me, and it’s fun to bring it forward and mix it in with my current wardrobe. Cheers and have a great weekend!
Outfit: Denim jacket from GOAT Romasco; H&M Sweater; Pilcro jeans from Anthropologie; Miista Val Tex ankle boots (no longer available); Topshop Hat; Cassette Phonecase c/o Bangood
For the third year running, I humbly present again my last-minute holiday gift guide! I am notorious for waiting until the last-minute, so for those of you who suffer from the same affliction, this is the guide for you. For this year’s gift guide, I thought I would put a local spin on things and give those of you in the San Diego area places to actually go and grab some great last-minute holiday presents from some of my favorite shops in the Carlsbad area.
Wysh Boutique is one of my favorite boutiques in Carlsbad. Located in the Village Faire at Carlsbad, they not only have fashionable clothing and accessories, but great gift ideas and gift certificates!
Sock District is new to the Village Faire, so I welcomed them by immediately purchasing a couple of pairs to gift to my sister. If you visit their site (link above), you can purchase electronic gift cards for your friends and family to shop in their store or online!
The Beat Clothing
Another one of my Carlsbad favorites, The Beat Clothing has everything you could want for your edgy fashionista friends. Astrid Montalvo is their on-site stylist and she can help you find the perfect outfit for that concert-goer in your life, or give the gift of rock inspired clothing, shoes and accessories through a gift certificate!
Of course I need to include a place where you can give the gift of music, and my favorite place to do some digging in Carlsbad is at Spin Records. I was just there and purchased a white vinyl 7-inch single of Johnny Cash’s The Man Comes Around with his cover of Personal Jesus (pictured below). They also have t-shirts, buttons, patches and gift certificates for that crate digger in your life!
Note: This is not a sponsored post. Although I mention specific shops, all suggestions are strictly my own.
Wow, it’s already December! I’ve got a few holiday posts to put up to ring in the season, but I thought I’d catch up on some events that I attended in October and November that I didn’t get the chance to post. Who’s ready for Christmas? I am!
The Luxe Show at Fashion Valley – 10/29/16
Back in October, I attended The Luxe Show at Fashion Valley, featuring cocktails and a trends display, followed by a runway show and after party at Louis Vuitton. It’s always fun to not only see great fashion, but to also spend some time with my fellow San Diego Style Bloggers! After the runway show, we each got to choose one gift from a selection of shops at Fashion Valley and I picked something cute from Henri Bendel.
Malia Designs Trunk Show With San Diego Style Bloggers – 11/16/16
It has been quite sometime since we have had a San Diego Style Bloggers get together, and we finally had one in November! I love getting together with my favorite blogger friends, and meeting new ones. This event was extra special because it was a private trunk show for Malia Designs, where a portion of the proceeds goes to help fight human trafficking. I purchased that amazing purse above and wore it on my most recent trip to Las Vegas.
Bloomingdale’s 10 Years of Beauty & Style – 11/16/16
There are times when more than one event is scheduled in one night. I’m lucky enough to call on my friends and family to help me out with attending an event when I’m already at another. Case in point: as I attended the San Diego Style Bloggers trunk show with Malia Designs, my best friend Janice attended “Bloomingdale’s 10 Years of Beauty & Style” at Fashion Valley on the same evening. She got some great pictures, celebrated with delicious drinks and received a gift card. Thank you Janice for attending and representing my blog, and I’m glad you had fun!
I have recently become obsessed with Breton stripes. I completely understand that there are more well-known images of stars in this classic look, like Audrey Hepburn, Bridget Bardot, Jean Seberg, Edie Sedgewick and Marilyn Monroe. But my favorite images of celebrities wearing what I consider a wardrobe “must have” come more from my era, like Meg Ryan in French Kiss and Madonna in Papa Don’t Preach. The look is so simple and fresh, and so French. The history of the Breton stripe shirt dates back to the French navy’s official uniform, but has been in fashion most notably through Coco Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier. In fact, I really do have a history of this type of shirt through one of Gaultier’s own designs with Target in an outfit post (here). I guess my love for this look runs deeper than I thought!
I had been hunting for an affordable version of the marinière, and found it at J Crew, complete with a slightly different detail: a fringed hem. Already a steal at $39.50, I bought it at the Fashion Valley location for an additional 25% off! I purchased it in a large to get that loose-look as worn by Meg Ryan, but styled it with a leather jacket like Madonna. I was going to wear my trusty Stan Smiths with them (which I already have because this shirt has rotated twice through my wardrobe in the last week), but opted to give my outfit more of an edge with a pair of rocker shoes by Miista.
Hurrah, my blog is finally back online! My apologies for the delay, and I’ll definitely be playing catch up as I’ve promised posts on past events as well as some collaborations I’m working on through outfit posts and product reviews, not to mention concert posts (like oh, KAABOO). If you want to keep up with me real-time, follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as I prepare summaries and additional photos here on my blog.
This weekend, I’ll be attending Fashion Week San Diego in La Jolla. Tickets are already sold out, and I’m excited for the Saturday runway show because my fashion friends Pashn by Survi and The Stylish Bisou will be showing that day!
If you were lucky enough to grab tickets, I’ll see you there, otherwise follow me on my social media for all the action. Cheers!

I’m excited to be a part of the festivities for Elite Networking Group at Wysh Boutique in Carlsbad tonight! I’ll be talking about my love for fashion & music, how I got started in blogging and how I incorporate it with my loving family and career. I’ll also be putting together some of my favorite looks from Wysh Boutique!
I’ve been a part of the Elite Networking Group for over a year, and it’s a wonderful network for women who want to grow their businesses with quality referrals. We meet monthly through events hosted by founder and The Pulse producer & host Cindy Matalucci.
Thank you Cindy for having me and I’m excited for this great night of fashion and fun!
I know I’ve been very laxed when it comes to my blogging lately, and I apologize! My son has been away at his grandparents in Las Vegas for the last two weeks, so I have to confess that I’ve been catching up on some much-needed sleep. But now to get caught up on my blogging, I’m posting about events that I missed over the last few months. I’ll also be putting up my concert catch up posts and I think I’ll be all caught and ready to put up my newest posts about recent events and product reviews!
DANCE DANCE RESOLUTION – 1/31/16
My husband and I were invited by Delicious Buzz to attend the “Dance Dance Resolution” event presented by the international travel company Gogobot San Diego and a local non-profit organization, The Seany Foundation. It was held at The Rancho Santa Fe Motor Club & Storage and although it was quite the storm outside, it was a fun night of food, drinks, dance battles and pug kisses by Chole (with her mommy Heather of The Stylish Bisou).
THE BEAT CLOTHING SPRING FASHION SHOW – 2/21/16
Back in February, The Beat Clothing stylist Astrid Montalvo invited me to check out her fashion show in Carlsbad. Unfortunately due to some scheduling issues, my niece, Mei-Lin and I missed the actual fashion show, but I got to photograph some of the lovely models afterwards, and Mei snapped a picture of me with Astrid!
LATINO FILM FEST FASHION SHOW AT FASHION VALLEY – 3/18/16
Bloggers were invited to attend Fashion Valley’s 2nd annual “Celebration of Fashion” runway show for the 23rd annual San Diego Latino Film Festival. The event was emceed by Paola Hernández-Jiao and Abelardo Rodriguez and featured men’s and women’s fashion. My favorite was the fringed skirt by Scotch & Soda, featured in the video above. Look at that swing!
BERRY BEST CHOCOLATE FEST – 3/19/16
My mother-in-law had a booth for Bathologie, one of her direct sales companies at The Berry Best Chocolate Fest at Liberty Station, so I took that opportunity to hang out with my son and enjoy the festivities. Rather than all of the wonderful chocolate, Dominic decided he actually loved the Belgian waffles from the Marcel Waffle Truck. I wholeheartedly agree!
RECORD STORE DAY 2016 – 4/16/16
I spent Record Store Day this year at Record City in Hillcrest with my friend Rob and blogger friend Laura of Laura Neuzeth. This was probably the most organized RSD I had ever been to, and I think I found a new spot for every RSD from now on! The trick is to get there incredibly early (I got there by 5:30 am and there were still people there before me) to ensure you get your choice of what you want. They didn’t have everything that I wanted from “The List” (post about it here), but I did come away with an awesome haul!
SPRING FLING EVENT AT GO GIRL SPA – 4/23/16
Also back in April, I attended the “Spring Fling Event” at Girl on the Go, a night spa in the Golden Hill area. I enjoyed the free cocktails, hanging out for a bit with Tatum from Love Tatum, and then I purchased a little something from Style on the Go. Of course, since the Marcel Waffle Truck made an appearance, I had to bring something home for Dominic!
I love this time of year because it’s when Neiman Marcus at Fashion Valley is ready to present their Spring Trend Event. Each spring and fall, Neiman Marcus presents their picks for trends for the seasons in a special fashion show presentation for invited stylists and bloggers, perfectly styled by Alex Yanez. The presentation included a sumptuous lunch, which was Lenten perfection (meaning no meat) as it fell on Ash Wednesday this year. I’ve included all the looks from this year’s presentation, and I will highlight my favorites. Not only is this a wonderful luncheon that includes fabulous fashion, but it’s a time to catch up with some of my favorite stylist and blogger friends.
Women’s Spring Trends 2016
These Gucci lace-up gladiator heels gave me the feels, completely.
All of the contrasting florals were still pulled together by the colors pink and fuchsia.
The Fendi Mini 3Jours with that Micro Baguette was so much fun together!
I seriously need those wide-leg cut-out culottes. NEED.
Why yes, I could add yet another bomber jacket to my collection, especially THAT one by Alice + Olivia.
I finally just got my lace-up flats, so I think I can replicate this outstanding mixed-lace outfit.
The Moschino purse that some of my blogger buddies said that was so me. I agree!
Menswear Spring 2016
The red embellished bomber jacket and the bow-tie with the military influenced jacket definitely elevated these outfits.
My outfit details: BCBG cape sweater, Blank jeans, Jimmy Choo shoes, vintage Chanel purse (purchased from Portero), Love Tatum ring and bracelet, Warby Parker glasses.
The beauty presentation featured Le Metier De Beaute, and our lovely gift from Neiman Marcus was the Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Complexe, valued at $125!
Thank you again to Neiman Marcus at Fashion Valley for inviting me, I had a great time as always!
This Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Kipling at Fashion Valley will reveal their 2016 Spring Collection and host a handbag charity drive. Enjoy sips, sweets and tunes and 20% off any Kipling handbag with your handbag donation (please make sure any donated handbag is gently used and work appropriate).
It’s the first week of the New Year, so why not start with an outfit post? During the Thanksgiving break, my mother-in-law treated me to a fabulous afternoon tea at The Tea Lounge in the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas. I’ll detail the tea itself in a separate post, but I felt the occasion warranted me to wear this dress from Voodoo Vixen’s latest Fall/Winter 2015 line. It has a wonderful flocked houndstooth print (one of my favorite prints), with a lovely open collar, giving it a completely retro feel. Since it’s a bit chilly in Las Vegas, I finally got to use my faux fur tippet, which worked well with this vintage inspired dress.
Guess what? If you like what you see on Voodoo Vixen’s site, Any Second Now readers can use code any2nd20 to get 20% off your purchase!
I also had to take a picture of my nails because they are my new favorite “go-to” nails in a pinch: I did my nails in under 15 minutes! They’re the latest by Kiss, and I purchased them the day before at CVS, but you can’t tell that I just glued them on a short time before we headed out the door. What I really love is that they come in a new shorter length, so they’re pretty and practical.
Outfit: Tiger Lily Flocked Flare Dress c/o Voodoo Vixen; Enzo Angiolini Coadi Houndstooth Pumps; Oasis Faux Fur Tippet; Kate Spade necklace, earrings and bracelet; “Tippi” glasses by Lookmatic (no longer available in black)
