Premier Sports & Pub Grub at Phileas Fogg’s in Sabre Springs Plaza!

Having been to London three times (and counting), I have a great love of pubs.  I love the sports fueled atmosphere, the camaraderie, and especially the food, affectionately known as pub grub.  Recently, my sister and I had lunch at a great little pub located at Sabre Springs Plaza called Phileas Fogg’s Bar & Restaurant.  They were voted “San Diego’s Best” three years in a row, and by the experience we had, we could see why.  Right when I walked in, I felt like I entered a pub in London, soccer prominent at every turn, even on the ceiling!

The food was just as wonderful as the atmosphere, reminding me of England on one hand, as well as making me feel right at home.  Their menu ranges from traditional British fare, to Asian and Mexican.  I had the Bangers & Mash with brown gravy and onions, and my sister had the fish tacos, along with her favorite appetizer, poutine fries.  We finished off our afternoon with bread pudding and banana fritters with ice cream for dessert.  It’s good to know that I can have delicious pub grub right in my own backyard!

If you would like to indulge in some pub grub while catching your favorite football club on the telly, Phileas Fogg’s Bar & Restaurant is located at 11385 Poway Road, #100 San Diego, CA 92128 and they can be reached at (858) 486-4442.  Cheers!

Football (NFL) & more football (soccer)?  Why yes!  Plus, take a look at that ceiling and the amount of jerseys and flags; I spotted Manchester United straight away!

Grand Opening: Double Happiness Jewelry & Home

IMG_6972 - Copy

I apologize for the lack of posts lately!  Sometime life happens and we all get caught up, which has happened these last two weeks!  But I promise to be posting more regularly, as I’ve been attending several events and have been taking outfit posts with my sister during my new days off.  In the meantime, I wanted my first catch up post to be about this wonderful new kiosk that opened up at Liberty Public Market called Double Happiness Jewelry.

Stephanie Wells, jewelry designer and author of The Earring Style Book, brings her gorgeous creations locally to Liberty Public Market and has expanded her line to include “Wall Jewelry” and home accessories.  I had the pleasure of attending their grand opening, which was busy from when I got there to when I left!  Good luck to Stephanie and her new venture, and you’ll be seeing more of her beautiful jewelry and home designs here!  IMG_6978 - Copy

Review: Extreme Coarse Micro-Mineral Rollers for the Emjoi Micro-Pedi

IMG_6720

Last year, I reviewed the Emjoi Micro-Pedi as I got my feet ready for summer sandals and strappy heels (post here).  Recently, I received an awesome add-on accessory: Extreme Coarse Micro-Mineral Rollers!  These rollers are amazing at smoothing out the roughest part of my feet, which are my heels and calluses that develop at the balls of my feet.  After working on those parts of my feet, I then switched to the regular rollers to completely smooth out my feet all over.  With the Micro-Pedi, I’ve got all I need to give myself a complete pedicure at home!

I also asked my sister to give me her thoughts on the Micro-Pedi, because I’ve been talking it up so much that she wanted to try it herself.  But to really test it out, she had her husband try it, and they’re so glad they did!

As I read the instructions on how to use the Micro-Pedi, I asked my husband if I can try it on him, since his feet are a little rougher than mine.  I told him that I had to wash and dry his feet first. He was willing and ready to! As I started using the Micro-Pedi on his feet it was very simple and easy to maneuver around.  When I finished with both of his feet, I definitely felt the smoothness of his skin. He even said, “Very smooth!”.  Once we were done, I read on how to clean the Micro-Pedi.  It is very easy to take the roller out with one push of a button, then cleaning it with the brush. Finally placing it back in was also easy and simple.  Overall the Micro-Pedi by Emjoi is a very simple little machine to use for both men and women.

Record Store Day 2017: Happy 10th Anniversary!

IMG_6884

Today is Record Store Day!  This is the first year since 2011 that I haven’t gotten up at the crack of dawn to queue up for my favorite picks.  With my new schedule, I work Saturdays and I actually took today off to be in line for RSD’s 10th anniversary to check out the exclusives.  However, I also made an appointment for my hair.  Since the last appointment of the day at the salon was at noon, I don’t think I could wait in line, get what I want and make it for my hair appointment.

I am going to Record City right after I get my hair done to check out the aftermath, and to see if they will still have copies of the Just Say 50: Sire Records 50th Anniversary Box Set that I want.  Then I have to get ready for the Pixies for a date night with the hubby tonight!

For those already in line for Record Store Day in the US:  May your digging be fruitful and here’s to hoping you get everything you want!

Pardon The Interruption: Pining For Pins!

IMG_6841

I’m so sorry my posting schedule has been a bit off lately.  My work schedule at my new job is a bit out of the norm, and I’m really trying to get used to a Tuesday through Saturday shift, with Sunday and Monday being my weekend.  Such as the life of a call center supervisor!  Even with all of the chaos it has created in my mind, it has allowed me to hang out with my sister a bit more, so I can do more outfit posts on a regular basis. I’ll be putting up a catch up post soon of events I’ve attended in the last few months, along with some product reviews.

In the meantime, please enjoy the glory that is the jacket containing 25 pins I recently won in a contest held by Pinlord on Instagram (original picture on my Instagram here)!  My collection has risen to over 100 pins and is growing each month.  One of my catch up posts will be about my first pin event that I attended with my sister, niece and son back in March.  You can start to see the build up of my newest obsession that doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon!

In the meantime, pardon again for the interruption and hope you’re having a great week, cheers!

Got different badges but they wear them just the same

IMG_6879 - Copy

Pin, buttons, badges: I’ve worn them all!  Now, after all these years of wearing them, I find myself heavily embedded in everything having to do with “Pin Culture”.  I’ll do a separate post about my love for the soft-enamel pin, but let me introduce you to a small part of my growing collection, as showcased on this awesome denim jacket from GOAT Romasco, an online fashion boutique here in San Diego.  I have several denim jackets, but this one is longer and slightly over-sized, which makes it almost like a coat.  I wore it over a nice comfy sweater and my new favorite jeans by Pilcro at Anthropologie.

I wasn’t lying when I said that the eighties run deep in me, and it’s fun to bring it forward and mix it in with my current wardrobe.  Cheers and have a great weekend!

“Mangia Mangia” at Bongiorno’s Pizza in Poway Valley Center!

IMG_6937 - Copy

Hometown eateries are always a great find because they’re like hidden gems.  My sister and I have been discovering fun places to eat up near where she lives in Rancho Bernardo, and Bongiorno’s Pizza in the Poway Valley Center is a tasty and affordable choice for Italian cuisine.  Our entire lunch meal, which included our main dishes with garlic knots, drinks and dessert only came to $29!  There were so many great choices, which solidifies a return trip with our families!

If you would like a great and affordable Italian dining experience, Bongiorno’s Pizza is located at 13332 Poway Road, Poway CA 92064 and they can be reached at (858) 679-3278.  They also do deliveries within 5 miles.  Cheers!

Bongiorno’s has a cozy feel, with lots of pictures of New York.  Isn’t that pizza clock awesome?

I had the spaghetti with meat sauce, and my sister had the baked ziti.  Both were really good, and we loved the garlic knots!

This is absolutely one of the best deals at Bongiorno’s: the Dough Bites.  They are deep fried dough rolled in powdered sugar, and come in a small pizza box.  The entire box was only $4.99 and so great hot and right out of the box!

Like They Do It In The Factory

The Factory Salon Front Page

theFactory Collage 1

As a blogger, we are dared to try new things and new experiences because of the nature of what we do.  I have discovered new restaurants, new shops and boutiques, we well as new hair salons through this blogging experience.  I discovered Kelly Cardenas Salon because they contacted me to try out their new location in Hillcrest.  After they consolidated locations and when my main stylist, Salvador, moved to Las Vegas, I decided to try out a new place through a recent contact in the blogging world.  Aaron Lacy is a stylist at theFactory, located in Downtown San Diego.  I swear it was Kismet when I walked in and Music For the Masses was playing in its entirety!

Immediately, I loved the industrial-style space of theFactory.  It’s very clean, modern and stylish.  Once I got settled into the chair, Aaron explained what he had planned for my haircut that day:  a simple and sleek bob cut, my favorite hairstyle.  Aaron suggested we take my hair back to basics, and took great care to even out any odd layers.  Without a doubt, this cut was one of the most precise bobs I’ve ever had.  It’s been about a month since I’ve gotten my hair cut, and it’s growing out beautifully!

Thank you Aaron for the amazing cut and the fantastic pictures!

theFactory is located at 1025 F Street, San Diego, CA 92101.  Contact them at (619) 255-6338 to schedule an appointment and please be sure to ask for Aaron!
